OK so I used to own and show/Breed Rottweilers for 21 years. Now I have a Blue Pit Bull which I bought as a pet. He is wonderful and Very good looking. I sent out for his pedigree and am shocked that he is a product of an INBREEDING! his parents are full brother and sister. Amazing that he has no health problems or temperment problems. Guess I am just venting and feel bad that I was buying a pet so didnt push the issue of seeing his pedigree.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I think at one point or another, we all do things that we wish that we would have done our
homework before we acted first.
I did the same thing with a German Shepherd female. She was sorta a rescue situation. She was the prettiest thing I had seen in a
while. Big bone, nice thick head and gorgeous coat and condition. Just knew she had to have some really nice breeding behind her.
Took her home, promised I wouldn't part with her. Order a pedigree and not one name had any title, health clearance, or kennel
name beside some BYBer's name. It really didn't matter because we didn't plan on breeding her. However, it was a shock to find out
she had a fruit salad of a pedigree. I know that is very different from your situation. But was just sharing how easy it is to be fooled
by looks.

Inbreeding is extremely common in Pits. If the dog is blue, however, I'd wager there's some heavy Staff blood in there. What's the pedigree? Can you post it?

The dog is a pet, pretty and very healthy. Why are you complaining for? Many people buy show puppies from outcross litters and have health/temperament/conformation problems. You got neither, so enjoy the dog and next time be more careful.

for real ....its not such a bad thing when line breeding or inbreeding your only putting back what you already have in the first place. done over and over again i would think you would find skin problems,undershot muzzles and so on.... you really want to see how mom and dad where bred... they might have been heavy line bred back in the day ..buts thats used in game bred dogs more that a show blue and like jenni had said he should have a large amount of staff blood which could be some what scatter bred...all in all its not like ppl.and your pet should be just fine... my mentor used to tell me they are pit bulls not pet bulls. good luck
