Rodietoad

I've got a really cute 6 month old, AKC, Australian Cattle dog pup, whom is going through obedience and I'm working on confirmation for show.  She's still growing into herself, the confirmation is coming along nicely and in the last 3 weeks, she's getting a "happy" curl in her tail.  It's a perfect tail at rest, but when she gets excited it started curling... Just a "U" at the tip....oh, no....what should I do?  Give up confirmation and go for obedience?  Niether of her parents have a curl, non of her siblings has a curl....eeek.  And she is such a beauty....

Okay, well, the tail thing doesn't seem to be such a bad issue, a slight fault but didn't keep her from getting "Best of Breed" two days in a row at a dog show.   Whew...

not sure if anyone has gotten you any info on your post. a slight curl to the tail, such as the U you described, is acceptable. my male gets 'happy tail' when he's excited, to the very limit of how 'happy it can get. The breed description says "At rest it should hang in a very slight curve. During movement or excitement the tail may be raised, but under no circumstances should any part of the tail be carried past a vertical line drawn through the root." Hope this helps, though it sounds like the pup has what it takes if she's already taking BOB. Best of luck in the ring! Heather Collins CastleRock Kennels Southern California
