    MAC Great Danes

    Description

We own, breed and show harlequin, mantle, black and merle great danes. MAC Great Danes originated in 1983 with the purchase of a harlequin bitch named MAC's Britny (WF436755, born 08/06/83). The first BMW bitch I owned was Designer's BMW Geisha (DOB 04/13/1988), who was out of Ch. BMW Bull Lea & BMW Obsession (both from Ruffian/Fantasia breedings). I bred Geisha to Ch. Manatasquot's James Taylor that produced my bitch MAC's Taylored Lady on 05/07/1994. Laura Kiaulenas approached me at a show and asked me who Lady was out of. Laura liked Lady and offered a few BMW studs for Lady. I did not want to breed to the studs Laura offered and asked for her to allow a breeding to BMW Ouzo. Laura said she would think about it and get back to me. I saw Laura at a dog show on 05/04/1996 and asked her again about using Ouzo for Lady who was in season. I was very happy that she agreed to allow a breeding with BMW Ouzo and she created a handwritten breeding contract ( which I still have) allowing Lady to be bred to Ouzo. Lady was inseminated on 05/09/1996 at CLONE. This breeding of Lady to Ouzo produced MAC's Shot Of Ouzo on 07/07/1996.

The kennel name MAC was created from the first letter's of my children's first names: Michael, Angela and Christine. MAC Great Danes is not a kennel that has dogs attending shows every week and breeds several litters a year. We have bred four different bitches a total of six times in the past 30 years. We have used our stud dogs to enhance our and other breeders' bloodlines. We breed selectively for quality vs. quantity.
