Mastan, Ranchinglady is absolutely correct, The heavier Indigo Igloo's are the way to go !!   Save yourself the $ of buying two and just get the Large or XLarge now...  Our dogs LOVE them !!

Only other thing I would add,  is might wait on the "bed" until you know your pup WON"T eat it,  Pups eat anything, socks, balls, toys, elec cords, paper clips, Candy, anything they can they will eat, and even if they can not eat it they will still eat it !!

Xtra caution is always needed with pups,  Good Luck and Congradulations on your new Pup !!  Have fun and keep us posted !!

ps,  Thanks for sharing the Great News !!!

Koodles on the new addition! :-)  And I must agree on the "welcome to the addiction"! LOL  One thing I haven't seen is a crate for the house?  Perhaps I over looked it in a post.

Ladywolf:  I will be getting the crate from Randy.  I will also get most of my dog/pup supplies from her, except the doghouse.  She had asked me to build one :-)...which I might still do if I get the right instructions...but for now I will go and check out the igloo houses..

Mastan:  You've already picked out your club and everything.  Good job on getting started  on the right foot.  EchoMeadows is giving some sage advise on using caution on stuff that will be in the kennel when you aren't home.  These pups are incredibly smart & if left to their own devices will work very hard at taking apart anything within their reach!!!!   I am lucky enough to be retired now, but all my dogs except my current one were "home alone" (in the kennel) when I was as work & I don't think it hurt them mentally or physically.  I think this is a new idea invented by those in the "doggy day care" business to make people feel guilty  & consequently drum up business.  Of course, as soon as I got home everything was all about the dogs for me, so I made up for it.  I wouldn't want anyone to come play with or even pet the dog if I weren't there.  If you are going to be gone for too long it might be a good idea to ask someone to pass by & look in on him to make sure everything is hunky dory.

Hi Guys:

I have some bad news......The breeding of Randy's bitch with Janos was not successful, so I am still waiting for my dog.  But I have alsready told Randy that I am committed to her and will get the pup only from her.  I visited her facility and saw all her dogs......the dogs were all wonderful...very well behaved and playful.  Even my son (4yrs old) had a blast.  Since she does not have any red/black pup planned for the future, on her recommendation I will visit her this week to look at one of her working breed pup (Bonnie vs. Hector vom Talka Marda).  She thinks that the this pup will be very good looking and has lots of working potential.....I just need to be little bit more flexible with the coat color.  Actually we have looked at lot of working dogs in the club, and my wife does not like the look of the sable working GSD, bacause according to her they look more like wolf than dog.....

I will keep you guys updated on my decision....

Mastan,

Congrats and welcome.  Don't get too caught up on coat color.  When you come across that perfect pup it will be almost like he has chosen you and that will be it!

On coat color, ProudShepherdPoppa is completely and utterly correct:-) I was actually handling a huge black and red male for my boss but the dog died. So he was to have me handle another dog for him (which I bought and that dog became my very first schutzhund, the sire to my two current pups:-)) He pulled Zeppe from the truck for the first time. Zeppe was a bicolor. I did NOT like the coloring, I was used to my big black and red boy. Now I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm hooked on the bicolors though the only bicolor I have currently is one of Zeppe's sons. The other son is a red sable. I have since owned another couple of sables and a black and tan. They all become beautiful honestly. Especially when they match your expectations in work. EVERYBODY wants the show dog that can be the wonderful family dog and protector, stand on the podium, and basically just do it all. What I"ve learned in my short time in the breed is it's almost better that if you trust the breeder to pretty much let the breeder pick for you. They will be more likely to match you up with the right personality (IF they're a good breeder which it sounds like this one is) and less likely to choose based on superficial traits like coat color. While it's important that you feel attached to the dog, you'll end up being attached MORE to the right personality for you. The colors always grow on you. I love bicolors because zeppe was one. I didn't choose zeppe because he was a bicolor.
