vomlandholz,  just a guess but were they Border Collie's, Australlian Shep, Blue heeler, or Kelpie's,  ??

I have heard the Border Collie's seem to be the MOST sensitive to it.

K9neiko,  might want to have your friend take her dog to the vet and tell them what she used,  they will know what to watch for and how to "Support" the dog to get the dog through any adverse reactions she/he may suffer from the IverPlus.

She gave it to her dog 2 days ago--and so far he is fine.  What is the time frame that he would be showing any signs to the Ivomec Plus???  I will have her call her vet as soon as they open in the morning.  I sure hope the dog is going to be ok. !!!!!!!!!!  Everyone say a prayer for him.  Thank you.

I don't know the specifics about the possible dammage or even what organs would be or would not be affected,  I don't have those answers, I'm sorry...  will say the prayer.

They were pits.  Had used regular ivomec before and grabbed the plus without thinking there was a difference.  I do not know the timeframe of when the guys dogs were affected.  Hopefully no adverse effects, but I'd ditch the plus version!

Different injection sites should be used for other parenteral products.
IVOMEC Plus Injection has been developed specifically for use in cattle only. This product should not be used in other animal species as severe adverse reactions, including fatalities in dogs, may result.

My research was a quick call to my vet Dr. Marcus Alexander. who specializes in large animal, and has studied in Germany, great guy, and he said that the other ingredient  Clorsulon in the Ivomec , is for treating liver flukes and is too detrimental for use in dogs...... I didnt ask what would be the outcome , but I used this bottle of Ivomec Plus for the last year , and at this point I have no problems, and I will not make that mistake again.....I am privey to the harm this drug can have no matter which one is used....I actually am very careful to even cut short the dosage a slight bit if not sure how much the dogs weigh....and use on pups, am glad didnt have to use out of this bottle......Im almost sure the dogs will be ok as Ive used this for a year and unless I have promoted a liver problem or cancer of an organ, which I will never, know , as other dogs have had cancer at old age and most probably its our environment and all the preventatives we pump into their body, but what else do you keep worms, and disease away with....I know,,,the holistic way......

Any one know what the holistic way for heartworm preventative is?

get some cranberry pills at the health food store and give for the next months till all gone   cranberry is a good flusher of the body of garbage so it cant hurt the dogs.....also she can increase the yougurt in diet and if she doesnt go yogurt, now is a good time to start    it is a probiotic to add good bacteria bck into the body  and intestinal trct    all medicines effect out pets and when we humans take meds we need to stuff our selves with yogurt....plain kind   regular not low fat....I feed or eat nothing labeled low fat   thats a commercial joke in America....
