Thank you for all the info I am going to give them a try and see which one works best for me.

I forgot to ask how often are you bathing your house dogs. How often is to often to bath your GSD ?

I am a firm believer of only bathing your gsd when it is needed!  Like if they roll in something or get caked with mud.  Bathing your GSD more than needed will remove the natural oils that their skin needs to be healthy.  Also most common shampoos can actually clog pores and cause infected oil glands.  A good rule to stick by is every 6 months or when needed IMHO

I use MANE 'N TAIL shampoo and conditioner. Works great (made for horses, but many people use on themselves and also dogs, cats, etc. for showing!)

I like the idea of Murphy's Oil Soap, however, so I'll give that a try next time. Best place to pick that up, urmangsd??

Ok I bath my dogs most months because they just get stinky. I don't want to hug or pet a stinky outside dog. I agree the shampooing isn't good for skin and coat. I have a ton of MOS because I have all wood furniture. How would I go about doing it? Do I just put it on their coat dry or wet them and lather them up? I do like the scent of Murphy's but can't fathom how the outcome will be. Any more on the use of MOS? I think tonight I will guinee pig one of my rescues and see how it turns out. I have tried at least a hundred dog shampoos in my life. I have used the Mane N Tail too. Love the conditioner as a leave in for myself. I have curly hair and it kinda texturizes the hair like moose and keeps it healthy at the same time. Been a while since I have done that. May have to go back to it again.

You can buy Murphy's at Walmart, Target, your local grocery store, pretty much anywhere they sell cleaning supplies.

Tried PetSilk last weekend and Rikka developed a hotspot (her first in her life)  the next day right on top of her head.  She hates to be sprayed there and was struggling so I may not have gotten it all out but regardless I will not use it again.  My dog now looks like she is wearing a bad toupee.

I like the Murphy's idea, never heard of it for dogs but will try it out.

In fact looking at her now she kind of looks like she is tonsured! LOL I wonder if the Monks would like a pic?

I too got Pet Silk from Tanyia at Eurosport.  When my dog came to me from them I couldn't help but notice how good he smelled, how soft and fluffy his coat was and it lasted so long I couldn't believe it.  I think we got the clean scent.

I think I will try the Murphys , that a new one on me........I like it, always keep it for my cabinets and walls as I have a lot of wood ,,,,not on floors,,,,I guess Ive never been around horse people , it they use Murphys.......My old male , has dry skin, now,no matter what his diet consist of, mega 3, oils flax, raw meat, so Murphys might help him.......the medicated shampoo hasnt helped at all, nor Head and Shoulders, which Ive used for years when skin problems pop up, vet suggested as it has salycylic acid in it and not  near as expensive as dog shampoo with same in it,.....Ive use Mane and Tail also....

I use Dawn , dishwashing liquid, original kind, for dirty muddy dogs and on my cocker spaniels , as they have mega mega loads of hair...and they are all parti color,,lots of white,,,,,and I now am washing my concrete kennel floors with dawn, and then use the odo ban , only once or twice  a week, instead of everyday, and on the back of the kennel.s   as someone suggested odoban not safe for breeding dogs...so not taking a chance.......
