There is a solvent named goof-off (might be goop off)  it is in a yellow and red can it will remove construction adhesive.

If it were me tho I would probably use my stripping brush (mars coat king) and cut it off.

Best of luck  Jeff

Yeah.  Not keen on the solvent "Goof off" to application to a dog. Kind of hard to keep from getting it all on the skin and kind of hard to prevent absorbtion.

TO THE O.P.:  do you have a regular hair clipper?  You could use that to clip under the adhesive and then just allow the hair to grow back.  That's another option.

Leave it alone for now and when the fur has grown out a bit, just cut it off if you cannot wait to see it gone. It is not going to hurt her in any way, and putting some sort of solvent on will dry out her skin as a minimum. If you must remove it now, put an ice cube on it to help it harden more and then shave or cut it off. No need to go to some groomer and pay big bucks...

This is no big deal. Just leave it

I guess there's a difference of opinion.

If you leave the adhesive in it will continue to aggravatate the dog.  The dog will continue to scratch will a back paw (and catch the hairs and adhesive) and rip it out in doing so.  It wil continue to scratch as the hair tries to grow back in.

Ask me how I know.  Ask me how many times it took me before learning to allow it to dry had and "clip" it out with a thinning shears.

The hair will grow back.  Thinning shears. Hell even a razor blade if the dog is calm.  Just under the "adhesive".

No Solvents!

Thank you all!!  Yeah, not a big fan of solvents for the pooch anyway.

A combo of clipping the big piece and picking has removed most of the large stuff anyway.  The rest can wear off...she is a working shep after all.  Rough carpentry can count as work, right LOL?

Maybe you can try baby oil.  My girlie brushed up against a wet painted wall, and baby oil got that out,.
