Don't forget to drench the swiss roll in sherry I grabbed the recipe off the net, rather than type it all out
by missbeeb on 04 December 2008 - 19:12
Not only does that sound delicious... it's easy and quick!
Thanks AmbiiGSD!

Fresh Caesar Salad (breath-killer special)
Rub a wooden bowl with large, smashed clove of fresh garlic.
Tear a head of romaine lettuce into bite sized pieces into the bowl.
Pour enough olive oil in on the lettuce to lightly coat it (I like the more pungent dark green EVO)
In a small dish, whisk the yolk of one large egg with the juice of a small lemon. Pour it over the lettuce.
Throw in at least 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesson cheese and two handfuls of seasoned croutons
Press another clove of garlic so the juice goes in the mix too, or mince the one you used to coat the bowl and toss it in (Optional!)
Mix it up and serve it.
(table side prep is a nice, simple touch)

I would LOVE a great, traditional British trifle recipe!
Do any of you across the pond want to share?

I haven't seen Custard powder or a Swiss roll since I moved home from GB in the 70's.

This is for people who just
might be old enough to know who Gracie
Allen was.....
(and some who can simply appreciate a good recipe).
Gracie Allen's Classic Recipe for Roast Beef
1 large Roast of beef
1 small Roast of beef
Take the two roasts and put them in the oven.
When the little one burns, the big one is done.
And as hubby George Burns used to say:
(Say goodnight, Gracie!)
