I held one when I went to Australia as a foriegn exchange student. It was awesome. :)

SitasMom,
You are close I believe that Koalas sleep about 19 hours each day and they eat eucalyptus leaves for the other 6 hours,
From what I have learned these leaves are very hard for the Koalas to digest therefore they need to eat between 500gms - 1 kg of leaves per day and then they have to spend a long time sleeping in order to digest them.
They are also very hard to spot in the trees and I have never seen one in the wild, only in sanctuaries.

I could use about 19 hours of sleep for a couple of days......a puppy is like a new baby, lots of nature breaks every night. Not gonna happen, oh well.......
