LF trainer in NJ for GSD pup w/ behavioral issues - Page 2

I hope that the people are able to find someone. I never assume that a dog owner actually knows what they are talking about when they tell me about what problems their dog is having. I have had people tell me all sorts of things and they have been way off base!!! Saved a Doberman from being put down cuse the people that were fostering it daif he was seriously aggressive.She was saying goodbye to the dog as it was kissing her.Hmmm seriously aggressive my a$$. I took him in and he was a big baby.He is now living large with my friends mom. It's good of you to not assuming anything and find them someone that can see the dog in person and see what would be the best way to work with the dog.

Of course you (or myself) would not expect an inexperienced pet owner to correctly assess the source of their dog's behaviour, that is what I would consider to be my job (and presumably yours).  Talking to an Owner is an invaluable source of discovery, that helps unravel the problem being experienced.   Giving the Trainer a good insight to where the problem may lay.  It can be a great help to an Owner as well, in helping to understand their interaction with their dog.

(I do absolutely agree that giving certain training/behavioural advice simply by text/email is incredibly difficult, if not impossible)!  Something that may even be considered straight-forward can easily be mis-interpreted, and incorrectly applied.  The Trainer does need to verbally communicate and physically meet Owner and dog. 

I asked this question, (purely interested between one Trainer to another), thinking that you may have spoken to the Owner to evaluate the situation.  Not to delve into their personal issues on Site.  I personally would not discuss the potential forward strategy on a Web Site anyway.

KC, you will not find anything negative about Beth! She is the best in the NJ area, I know people who travel from NY, CT, PA just to work with her. She is an excellent handler, very experienced, know exactly how to read the dogs, knows how to fix the problems and understands what the dogs are capable of.  
I know she's worked with behavioral issues in various breeds before. She isn't god meaning she can't make something a dog is not but she certainly knows how to help the owners deal with the situation in the most responsible way possible.   You can't go wrong, with Beth!
