The first thing that caught my eye: Amazing chest depth.
He makes a good example of correct high withers.

melba, a very nicely structured dog. If his character matches his structher, I congratulate you. You must know that having a breeder such as Silbersee (USA) show an interest in your dog ia a very great compliment. Best, Rik

Looks beautiful.  A little bit long for his height, not a lot of rear angulation, but beautiful looks very strong, and nice head.

Thank you for all of the nice comments.

Nero is quite a character. LOL When he was about 12 months old I had him out on the property and from somewhere he pulled a 12' X 4" diam TREE out of the woods. He carried that thing around with him whenever we went outside.

But really, he has matured into a very very good working dog. He is being trained in man trailing, explosives, working towards AKC OB titles now that it's cooling off outside and of course protection. He is a big pussy cat towards my 2 children but will light up when necessary or on command.

Why would you want a conformation critique?  Folks over react to an opinion that their GSD which looks good may have slight deviations from the standard which could prevent a KK1 or V rating.  Bottom line: Your dog looks nice and is a very attractive GSD. He may ahve good enough angulation at both ends to move adequately.  His head is nice, he has a very nice expression.  His pigment is excellent that's for sure. He's really adequate all the way around from what these photos show (which aren't the most descriptive due to the lighting).

Is he show quality?  Sure he could have likely done okay in puppy classes.  But IMO I just don't think he is quite good enough for a V rating (assuming his temperament is adequate for Sch1 which it should be from his breeding), But I could be wrong too.  He maybe could get a KK1 on a good day.  Would most GSD novices ever be able to understand why or really know where a well bred, attarctrive GSD falls just a bit short from the typical V rated dog?  Probably not.  If you want to know for sure on these fine technical points, you can have a breed warden or experienced SV judge look at him and give you an eval, or have the breeder eval him, or make a tracing of a top V dog and place it over his photo to get an idea.  If they say he is a bit shy of the standard for V rating on some fine points, don't over-react.  Remember only 3-5% of all SV GSDs bred attain an SV V rating. My view is the flank is a bit too long, tail set a bit too high.  But his croup is not too steep, his back is good and if he moves good from the side, he may be KK1 quality or very close and then on a good day could make V in a Landsgruppen show.  He is better looking than 90% of the WL GSDs so enjoy that.  But if he is just short of the KK1  or V rating, so what.  Most would never know unless they are very experienced, and besides a dog from this breeding is very valuable as a pet and home protector.  A serious eval would have to involve watching the dog move from all directions in a walk and gait.  Maybe I'm incorrect in what I have said, but you asked for opinions.  If you want a thorough eval seek a very experienced person to examine the dog for you in person.  In the meantime, enjoy him immensely.  I would.  He is a very attarcive, very well bred GSD from valuable producing bloodlines which typicaklly have very correct temperament and make great 24/7 in home pets.

Hi Melba,

You have a great dog .
Appreciate him now ,for his attitude , Intelligience and drives.
For he has come from some fantastic bloodlines. I'm sure
our friends, who are knowledgeable in working lines , can enlighten
us on your dog's bloodlines.

Preston, has put it very well .

i see him as follows.

Above medium size, strong , black dog ,of stretched proportions.
Good type.
Good head and expression,good withers,
a long back, that could be stronger (note the dip in the backline ).
A slighty short and steep croup, with a poor tail set. The tail is of minimum
required length. (hope I'm right, the photo does not show the tail
properly and  the standard calls for the tail to reach,at least the hocks)
The top line could be better and stronger.
very good front and hind angulations angulations,
with a good depth of chest , good underline and tuckup.
Stands with, front left pointing west..
Prefer a little more length in the forelegs.

(Maybe I need a better photo.
Or one of the dog standing free
