Because FL fleas are horrible!! They are very difficult to get rid of, no matter which flea killer you are using. Comfortis and Capstar do
nothing for ticks, which the DE does. The Comfortis was used as an instant flea killer, the DE spread in the carpets and in the dog building
killed any larvae and adults hiding, and then the Frontline plus towards the end of the month. I maintained (for 3 years) with only DE after
the initial iradication.

Where we lived, NO ONE around us took their dogs to the vet (so fleas were rampant all year round). I have only dosed the cats once since
moving to NC with frontline plus for ticks mainly, because they like to go off into the woods hunting. I have not put anything on the dogs or used
anything around them for the past 2.5 years.

Melba, I would love it if you could PM me your routine that you used.  We are heading into the 2nd year of my dogs living in the Gulf Coast of Florida and the fleas are horrific (already had tapeworms from infected fleas, never dealt with that before).  I currently started using Trifexis which has a form of Comfortis in it.  Let me know what you did, when you did it, how much you did it with.  I have gotten some really good ideas from people that I am implementing this week or as soon as my stuff arrives.  Thank you

I use DE in outside  runs.  Florida is that land of all things that bite and my hope is that it will help control spiders, ants and other things that can cause the dog discomfort or even a reaction with a bite.

I have read that inhaling the dust is not a good thing so I do not use it it contained areas like kennels.  I also do not treat more extensively with it because it is my understanding that it will also kill the small stuff in the dirt that you need for a healthy garden/grass and I do do some gardening.
