Best you can get UK 0-0,in Germany this would most certainly gain "Normal" Videx Omar sire of 0-0 offsping( Omars sire an Esko Son) Antilli Ando 0-0 Sire, an Esko Son out of a Korado Avax daughter, Korado Avax proved to be one of the best producers of hips in the UK, this combination Esko/ Korado will give you a good chance of excellent hips.Be careful with Czech grades, as a guide Korado Avax was 0/0 Czech, and Fast Normal in Germany. More threads such as this make for much better reading than most and can identify interesting differences between hip schemes in use.

Just out of interest Antilli Ando's mother (Antilli Sindy)is out of Champion Antilli Nathalie (Hip Score 2:2) Nathalie produced the following progeny:- A Ruby (3:3) A Rio (4:2) - both by Xalu Batu. A Sindy (4:2) (by Korado Avax)A Tannie (3:2) A Tigra (4:3) both by Saber Steffen Haus. A Vanta (3:4) by Enzo Buchhorn.

thank you dellbruck, for me this is yet more indication that FAMILY, and indeed certain males & females, are KEY to improving HD in the GSD. I know 'it takes two' to produce a puupy, BUT what I am stressing is that many breeders KNOW several excellent HIP producers and excellent hip producing 'lines' - yet still FAIL to introduce them into their 'breeding programme' RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS??????????????????

As a novice and always keen to learn, I have found this post to be extremely informative and positive ; IMHO this is the basic information people considering breeding should know, assuming that physical health is at the top of their priorities and useful for people considering purchasing a puppy. As the owner of a bitch with a total hip score of 43, it is a subject dear to my heart! I would like to add that I noticed that "Antilli" have modestly left off this post that their own two retained litter brothers to Ando have total hip scores of 5 and 6 each, which is pertinent to the comment about the family influence.

We imported a bitch in whelp to Laius vom Moorbeck who I know has a very good ZW. Out of the litter of 5 all were xrayed (GSD OZ) all had clear elbows one had 00 hips two had 1/1 hips 1 had 0/3 hips and the other 2/3 hips. From these siblings our kennel has had very low hip scores including several 00 hips.

Carebear I would be interested to know the bitch line - good to build up a picture of good producing hip lines - of which yours sounds a very good example. Am I right in thinking you are based in Oz? If so is the Oz hip scoring system similar to the BVA one here in the UK?
