This is not something that I do but there are good reasons to do it in some cases. My first gsd was a father/daughter breeding. One of THE best GSD's I have had!! SOLID temperament, no health issues, lived to 12. Great, great dog. Could do anything you asked. Incredible protection dog, solid, solid nerves, great with family/kids, worked him in obedience, agility, flyball, protection etc. SO much depends on the dogs/lines, and what other diverstity is in the pedigree. This kind of a breeding can give the 'best of the best' but can also give you the 'worst of the worst'. One needs to know the lines extremely well, what is produced/issues etc. Also likley should be willing to 'cull' if needed. When this is done, and you get the best of the best .....this dog can then go on to produce very good dogs with great predictability. Problem is....there are so many problems these days in so many lines that this is a real risk.

OMG did someone besides me utter the "cull" word? You read that right Christian???? =)~

For pete sake, every responsible breeder culls his/her litters, don't they? Every time a breeder selects what they consider to be the best puppies, they are in fact culling that litter. Right? Why would it be anything shameful to mention that process? Were you critisized for saying that, 4pack?
