Nans from what I know his litter mates are all titled and two dogs from his mother in a previous litter have K9 certifications, one for narcotics and the other on the street.
I would have to say that his true personality was always there. As a young dog trying to get him to engage in play wasn't an option and you don't put defensive/civil drive on a young dog. Once he was old enough to engage the helper from his more serious side, then he began to get the idea of what behavior we wanted. A lot of dogs you start young in prey and then balance into the fight/defense/civil side of things (and I am generalizing here I know) it just so happened with him, we went the other way. Waited for him to mature, then engaged his more serious side and eventually layered in the prey/play.

Personally I like the idea of letting them mature a little and then engage whatever balance that is needed at that time. I don't even know what my young male will excel in but I feel I will in time. Thx for sharing Nan
