p59 You are right. They actually said quarantine for 30 days then give the rabies and quarantine again for 30 days. But ya know what, I think 3 months is a bit young for a rabies vaccine! So far nobody has checked up on anything... knock on wood! She flew Lufthansa.

If going from Germany to Portugal you should make sure she has her rabies vaccine before she travels. There is no perfect age for the rabies vaccine, I have seen them done as early as 8 weeks as late as 6 months with extremely small dogs, such as chis, min pin, yorkies. talk to your local health dept and ask their recommendation, I wouldn't ship her without it. Just my opinion though. Kari

Shipping within Europe does not require a rabbies shot if the puppy is younger then 12 weeks. After 12 weeks she must have a rabbies vaccination. Shipping within Europe is easy as both Germany and Portugal are members of the European Union and within it all you need is a Pet Passport what can be asked in Germany from the local vet. This is a blue little book, similar to the health book. He will check the puppy and write in all vaccination to the pet passport based on the vet book and will verify that the puppy is healthy and shipable. Valid stamp is required. After this the puppy can ship by plane or by car either. If you choose a special airline then ask them about their requirements in advance, but I think if the puppy comes from Germany then they will use Lufthansa which is a flexible and well-arranged airline. Also its possible to ship the puppy through PetAir or Grandlyn Kennel from Frankfurt, they are specialist and you can ask them about their rules as well. Both of them have websites. Hope could help.
