I agree with the original poster though, I think Yappo belonged in the VA category. He is a very nice, male. Not to mention his bitework was very nice. Overall nice package.

Pete Medina in Riverside California has him. His phone number is listed under a heading looking for stud in Southern CA

Yappo is a very nice dog. He has a very good head and good substance. It should be understood that VA placement is a breeding endorsement by the judge. It would not serve the breed to place dogs that will be unavailable for breeding in the US. At the same time it is impossible to overlook a dog like Andrjuscha Noort who is already a popular stud in Germany, and produces quite well. Herr Knaul announced that he was allocating VA's based upon formula (15% of class?) which is not strictly correct, since VA is a judgement of quality and production, not rank in class. This allocation formula is popular in many countries where the breed is developing and few if any TRUE VA dogs are present since the purpose is to encourage breeding, and few will breed to dogs that are perceived as second class. There have been years when we only had 2 or 3 VA males, as the others did not make the cut (by USA standards). The number of VA placements in Germany correctly varies according to the number of dogs that are deserving. Some VA's from last year placed in the V's. They did not become less correct. Herr Knaul simply made the judgements that he thought best for the breed in the US. High V's are also quite respectable in a competitive class. Best Wishes, Jonah
