For training treats, it's hard to beat good old dry dehydrated liver.

My pup threw up after eating good old dry dehydrated liver.  :-P

I've decided to use pieces of her own kibble instead. No muss, no fuss, no upset tummy.

I am a RAW feeder too, but for tracking & training treats I take semi frozen boneless skinless breasts, (grocerys sell them in big bags), slice them thin & into desired lengths, stick them in the microwave for 10 minutes, then pop them into baggies & throw them into the freezer!  I take out a bag each morning - I have enough for tracking & training.  Any left overs go back into the freezer.  A moderator on another message board was kind enough to give me this recipe.  She sometimes sprinkles a little garlic powder or grated parmesan from the can over them.  I make them plain & my dog will kill for them!

My 16 week old GSD pup weighs 45 pounds   From what I'm told that is pretty much right were they are supposed to be at that age.

Sounds like your doing fine I still feed my pup 3 times a day

Lot of good suggestions for training treats  my trainer uses hot dogs Ive just been using dog cookies seems to work fine for me.

For training treats we have one that gets bite size pieces of raw carrot.  She loves them and I can snack too. :) One baby peeled carrot makes four training treats.

I couldn't agree more about not letting the food sit around and not giving him anything other than water between feedings. He needs to learn to eat what is put before him when it is put there.  I never owned or saw a picky eater until I bought my first GSD. This breed really know how to work the system and get what they want to eat LOL.

I use Cheerios for training treats.
