If you want camera recomendations for action shots then go for a digital SLR such as a Nikon or the Canon Eos range.

You will need a lens such as a 70-300mm. IS (Image Stabalisation) is an option but not necessary for your intentions. You will be able to get more than satisfactory shots with a fast shutter speed and hand holding the camera. Just need some practise on holding and panning the shot.

Try http://www.dpreview.com/  and go into the forum section. People will be more than happy to show you action samples with their cameras or PM  me and I will email you some. Still trying to figure out how to upload a pic as part of a message.

I've posted the Doberman picture before. I took that with a freind's Nikon D80. He has a mega lens and he has also upgraded to the next level but not sure what kind.  here are  a few photos from his camera that he and I have taken

watson- No, that's 17 mos. old  "Noodle", aka Isa vom Rochele Ranch. (stacked pic below) Noodle is here for SchH training & show conditioning. She's a cutie.  Needs a little weight, some muscle, but I'm working on it. :-D

Ask and you shall recieve! You guy's and gal's are great.  I was using my first post as an example, not necessariy bite work, but any action photos, or non action, just good clear pictures from a distance or closeup's,  I used the " to see the teeth go into the sleeve" just meaning,,, sharp detail.  something that can take a picture of exactly what you see in the view finder.

all of your pictures were great, I really enjoyed checking them all out,  the doberman pic was pretty cool, and all the ones doing bite work were nice too, You all have nice looking dogs. And to the person who shot all the pic;s of the coyote, those were excellent shots.  I suppose after i find the camera i want i'll have to take a class just to figure out how to work the darn thing.

thanks again to everyone,

pam

Oh, keep the action shots coming, and the kind of camera you use.

I appreciate all the info, and really enjoy the pic's of all the beautiful dogs.

Steve - it took me a bit to do it.  When in the "post a reply to:"  Click on the button that looks like a mountain with a son over it. - 2nd row, 2nd from right.

Then follow the link to find the file on your computer - follow it through and you should get a photo on the screen!

Not all GSDs, but these are shots I got today on my 40D (came with the package image stabilized lense...which is amazing)

(not bad for her first day on the sleeve O.o)

I do need a bigger lense though O.o  Or photo editing software on my laptop...most of the images blow up large enough that I dont worry about it...but all of my software is on my two desktops in my apartment at school...cant go back and crop for a couple of week :(
