luvmydog, I am also interested in what you know about Timo. His ability to produce very good character and conformation is pretty well known.

How about filling us in on the "rest of the story".

Timo was a very well constructed dog with excellent movement and character.  His colour was certainly good enough and this may be one reason why he was promoted to improve strength of colour in paling dogs.   Also, under Hermann Martin grey dogs were not promoted much to the disappointment of Alfred Hahn who continually advised against the policy of not promoting this colour.  Hahn's comments on the subject of grey dogs is makes interesting reading and he produced many under his kennel name of Busecker Schloss.

Timo's mother line probably did not contribute too much as Fanto (an exceptionally good animal) was the best dog from Tell Grossen Sand but this was not a line known for good production.  Also, Tell produced many long coated dogs.  Tell's sister, the Siegerin Tina v Grossen Sand, did not produce anything of note.

In the modern era, say from the time Hermann Martin was made President, Timo is the best grey dog that has risen to the top of the show world.
