His eyes say so much!  An old soul, yet such a young dog.

If the neighbor is who reported this why can't we get a name from that person?  Or at least an address?  Has this good neighbor just vanished into thin air?  Yea for the kind person who donated the reward money.

Morally reprehensible, disgusting and completely chicken shit to abandon a dog like that.   Animules is right, special place in hell for the rat bastards who left that dog like that.  I would SO like to find the assholes who would do a thing like this.

When we find out who did this lets keep it a secret for fear of being called a bully or stalker or anything else the truly delusional can dream up. PUKE

This makes me sick. DOUBLE PUKE

Sunsilver

There have been a lot of cases in the States since the recession started where people lost their homes due to foreclosure. They couldn't take their animals with them, so some of them, with a logic no sane person will be able to understand, just LEFT their ainimals behind to starve, either tied up in the yard, or, worse yet, shut up in the house!

This could be the case with this poor dog.

One of my GSD rescues was only 35 lbs. when I took her home, but she was a female, and not in as bad a shape as this poor guy.

Sunsilver, I also rescued a dog from the pound that was almost as bad as this poor guy. Mine was also a male like Courage, sable, maybe 9mos-12mos of age, he had kennel cough something fierce, so green goo was pouring out of his eyes and nose. He couldn't really walk and was just laying there in the concrete run. His head looked just like Courage', with the skull nob sticking out. We got a waiver from the pound for neutering. He had to go home with us first and gain some weight/muscle and health before he could be put under.

Trick turned out allright in the end, he was a very greatful, loving dog, very handler sensetive, who wanted nothing but to be with me always. Saddly he died at just 7yrs old of Osteosarcoma.

I wish this dog the best, he will most certainly be humble and take great care to please his next owner. Dogs this bad off, really don't forget the effort made and all the love given, to bring them back from such conditions.

Red Sable

It is really hard on the system to be starved this badly.  My brother who runs a bear rescue in Northern Ontario, had a grizzly bear that had been left in a cage to die.  He died at a young age (for a bear) of 15, the starvation had weakened his heart.

http://www.bearwithus.org/oso.htm

, "his days with the circus came to a close and he was sold to a zoo near Sudbury. After a time, the zoo shut down and the owners moved on. When they left, Oso remained behind, trapped in his cage with no food or water. More than three weeks passed before he was found. By then, he was close to death."

After:

I don't understand some people.

A bullet to the head would be kinder to the animal, than left with no way to feed or water themselves.

Sad, but true.  I just see no excuse for this kind of torture.
