Nancy, You are right about the marine deep cycle batteries being better. The pond pump has a 1.0 amp draw and is a 150 gph @ 1 foot(gallons per hour output at 1 foot lift height).

There are many solutions for how one transports their dogs from home to the training field. If money is the governing principle, a couple of plastic vari kennels work quite nicely. It is important to understand what makes dog trailers unique from other types of trailers. A typical 4 dog trailer, such as the Sperrin or Wt Metal has a tear weight of only about 700lbs and a loaded weight of about 1100 (if that). The significance is that dog trailers are designed specifically for hauling dogs. The down side of course is that if you buy a trailer with soft suspension designed to haul dogs, it doesn’t work very well for hauling gravel. But hey I paid a lot of money for my dogs, I guess I might need one dog trailer and another trailer for hauling gravel, ATVs, etc. I know a guy that transports his dogs in a utility trailer with a tear weight of 3500 lbs. While the trailer works, his dogs are beaten and bounced around every time he travels. Luckily for them he does not take long road trips.
