DesertRanger, My point is (was) - If you don't know who you are dealing with then the choice of words can be selected carefully to find out what you want to know. I see nothing wrong with being respectful and courteous - do you? Someone recently stated this board was equivalent to Jerry Springer. I am beginning to agree, but I try to read through the BS because occasionally someone with honest experience and valuable input will post. As was the case in this instance. I live in America - Home of the Free because of the Brave. In God We Trust. Spent 26 years in the military defending America. I love the USA but this has nothing to do with that - it HAS to do with people that post on this board and, in effect, "run off" experienced and knowledgeable breeders that can offer valuable input.

Oops! That should have been if the dam has the drives to go no further than sch1.

Please don't let this thread be sidelined.  I really want to learn this stuff.  And if not here, where?

Thanks,

Dawg

"American Ignorance"- Where in the hell did that come from? Why do these posts always seem to go sour? Thanks for all the great input everyone!

Norman..Of course not, but best to practice what you preach. Plenty of "American ignorance" or better said "ignorance" all over the World. You could also say plenty of un-ethicial breeders in Europe? These are the people causing alot of the problems? Selling their poor quality dogs to wealthy people in America and all over the world? Don't start sounding like John Kerry "I served in Vietnam". No need to build yourself to me.

DesertR, I agree that it is universal. My apologies for using the word "American" in front of ignorance. My intention was not to start another topic.

Norman, are you saying Angela has titled 300 dogs to schutzhund titles in 27 years? By the way I don't care what tone of voice you use. It's a free country. There's a lot of imposters on this message board and I will probably continue to ocassionally challenge or ask for proof.

Hello folks, I just saw this & thought I would add a little something to the conversation. I've been doing SchH for 25 plus years, & have had 3 SchH3 bitches. Two of which I raised & trained from untitled youngsters. Sure there is some general things that applies to all bitches, but by in large all three of my girls were all their own dogs' so to speak. Dixi, Gita & Lea, were all very strong protection dogs, that had some quirky things going on from time to time, but no more than the males I've had either. Gita was probably the highest scoring dog on a consistant basis that I have had to date. Two of the 3 bitches had litters of pups, & Lea is pregnant now. I would say patience is the biggest thing I've had to learn, or add to my training, when dealing with a bitch. Al Govenik

Spook Strong words for someone who is new to this Board? Have you changed your sign-on name or new to board?

ALPHAPUP, You're right... to my experience with working with my bitch, Zambi... I must say that she is an easy dog to train. Shes very intelligent with a lot of heart for schutzhund. She has very good genetics and this is also judging behalf of her father, Santos who is 11 years old and still behaves like a young dog.. He shows no signs of slowing down and still wants to work.. IMO I consider him a true working showdog.

I don't usually post anything, but it was interesting to see what people think is important to breeding a litter. Without a doubt the female contributes more in many respects. Especially with temperament. I recently had a litter with a wonderful bitch, all the puppies have wonderful temperaments. Most look like her right now, but certainly you can see the influence of the dad. I bred to a Ghandi son and I have rich pigment and the one I kept has an extremely plush coat - unlike her mother's which is short and dry. So you must look at your bitches faults (and be honest with yourself)and then find a dog that has what you are lacking......do not just breed to the 'flavor of the month'. Pat
