Unfortunately they have one view don't they? They are commenting in derogatory terms on our breed with those health tests already in place - some with serious problems yes but have they been given a balanced and fair view of the situation - no - In the interests of balance, I do hope that you will jump on this site as soon as possible to put a few of these folks right on what they are watching based on science and the health tests that some of these animals have had carried out on them?
As the old cliche states: a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!
I trust that you will not use this breed as a catalist to your own ends, and are genuinely prepared to do something about it.

In my opinion, your reference to insurance company data/veterinary studies, could prove to be completely unreliable, how often dogs are misdiagnosed, a gsd will always be easy prey for an inexperienced vet, regards their hips etc, just as the other breeds will now be singled out for their individual problems, after all who would question a vet, obviously insurance company data is based on vets findings. You also make reference
there is a more basic issue that needs to be addressed with the GSD, as illustrated by the clip that started this discussion, and this problem will not be resolved by health tests - unless, that is, there turns out to be a strong link between, say, CDRM and the shape of the dog.
This statement with regards to the shape of dog, what leads you to believe that their is a problem with shape, what evidence exists to support that view. I can assure you that it is almost certainly nothing to do with how much breeding an animal has had otherwise obviously all the humpty backed blokes would be getting all the girls

Eeeek - it is a complete coincidence I can assure you!! and is unfortunate that it has been used in the negative towards you - you obviously have researched an awful lot!
The sentiment of the statement is true especially when addressing members of the public on such emotive issues - for us to understand and move forward we need to have 'all' the facts, not an abridged version on one side, with nothing to balance.
Clearly I didn't know this had been used in a personal attack, incidential do you use hydrotherapy with your dogs?

You also stated on an American site that you have heard that the situation is much worse in the US and most of your research was drawn from here: http://www.canine-genetics.com/
Thats not very scientific is it?
