Well I went ahead and ordered some anyway. I should have found out if there is an expiration date for them. I can always try next cycle if this doesnt take. Her progesterone level was at 3.33 for Tuesday, testing again tomorrow, wont have results until Monday.

Is anyone else have long cycles on their females right now? I know of two others whose females have bred later than 'usual' this time of year.

One of my girls finally came into season (I think) so I'll run progresterone along with the pads and chart the results.  My girls have been having extended cycles lately where they used to go 5.5-6 months between cycles and are now going 7-9 months.  Go figure.

Judy,
My female has always run about 7-8mos between cycles. I expected her to start her cycle when she did. However, she normally is standing around days 12-14. This time she wasnt standing until days 26-31.
She was bred on day 26 (Sunday). I got the pads in the mail the next day. Checked her with one and it said she had ovulated. I ran progesterone for Tuesday and did another pad. Pad said she ovulated and the results on Wednesday said she was at 9.42 for progesterone on Tuesday. If I had them just a couple days earlier, it would have been better to see the change from nothing to something. I will get her in for an ultrasound the week of Dec 27th.

I can vouch for these pads now.  One of my girls had a progesterone reading of 3.3 yesterday which means that she should ovulate today. I used the pad this morning and it turned color as promised. It did not turn color yesterday but it clearly indicated ovulation this morning.  What a financial savings this is.

I have a picture of the pads but I'm not sure how to upload it.

Thanks SO much Judy for sharing. My experience was very good as well, the pads changed as promised and she was ready to breed the next day. My question I do have is, do you check with the pads and when color shows breed 2 days later or check until you get color and then check every day until no color and then breed 2 days later? I hope that makes sense!

My experience with the pads is limited since this is the first time I've used them and that is the reason I did progesterone side by side and that also convinced me that the pads work.  Now.... do they work all the time?  I have no idea which is why I'll probably do the same thing next time around to be sure.  I know that there are situations that affect the outcome, like exposure to air before they are used and also the pink pad being touched by human hands before use.  The web site clearly states this.

This time I left my females with the owner of the stud (thank you very much Robin and Carlos) so I didn't get subsequent readings about when they stopped ovulating.  I wouldn't take a chance on a pad showing clear before breeding.  I think you need to follow the instructions which say to breed two days after the pad turns color for the first time.  That being said, I would rather play it safe and breed one day after the change in color in the event that I didn't get the very first onset of ovulation.  Better early than late especially since sperm will last several days.  Once you know that they are ovulating it's a good thing to plan the breeding accordingly.

I may try these pads on some younger females of mine who will be in heat shortly but are not being bred to see how many days the pads stay dark, just for my own information.

The trick with these pads is to do your homework and be vigilant about the timing.  It's not a hit or miss situation because you could easily miss the right day if you aren't paying attention.  Other than that, if these pads really do work as they seem to, I'm sold.  Huge savings money wise and much easier on the females instead of dragging them to the vet every few days PLUS the fact that who knows what disease lurks in a vet office that you might be exposing a vulnerable female to.  Just my two cents.

Good luck to anyone using these pads and let us know what your experiences are.

Any further reports on whether these pads worked or success with them?

thanks
