I SENT MY EMAIL, I also found 3 other dog chat rooms and put them on notice along with 3 pet friendly travel sites.

Doing my part to crash the server, you might also want to e-mail the Visitors Bureau, all things tourist. I wrote to the mayor as well and pointed out that my normal expenditure on a "dog trip" is around 1K, and that if enough dog sport people avoid Louisville that is many, many thousands that will be needlessly lost. I somehow think he really does not care. Lorri

Really stupid ordinances. I do find it a little funny that on a previous thread about a dumb Judge in Ohio that sentenced a man who shot his dog, to wear a puppy outfit for a week, that many hear were putting down Ohio and calling it the worst state. One poster even said "the best thing I saw in Ohio was the sign that stated "Welcome to Kentucky". Man, how the worm turns :) Seriously though, I read about more and more laws being passed around the nation, that are similar to these. The government wants to control EVERYTHING so that they control everything. Sounds a little stupid when I write it but it makes scary sense.

You know, I forgot about that DoRight--The "Welcome to Kentucky" remark--That's right--Isn't Ohio bordering on Kentucky--with both states sharing the Ohio River?---hmmmmmm............... Couldn't resist. Also, isn't Kentucky famous for that saying, "United we stand, divided we fall"? Maybe it's time to strategically alienate all of them from their collective stupidity.

Avorow, I think where revenue is concerned ALL politicians ears go up. Like our dogs trying to figure out a new sound, tilting their heads back and forth. Behind these ordinances lies someone, some group that is benefiting at the expense of common sense.

Where is the common sense behind the owners though? Back to Uwe's post - "Besides 2 people being mauled to deathin 2005, Louisville Metro Animal Services' Animal Care Center receives an average of over 14,000 animals annually Metro Animal Services employs 17 Animal Control Officers who investigate over 24,000 complaints in an average year that range from bite cases to severe inhumane treatment". These ordinances are totally absurd and to the responsible pet owners, unfair. Problem is nation wide the number of irresponsible owners are outnumbering the responsible ones and with that these ordinances will keep getting passed, unfortunatly. Uwe" WE need to educate the public about well bred dogs, breeders need to find better homes for their pups, the AKC needs to start having some controls in place (haha), we need to police ourselves more and insist on responsible ownership and behavior....should I keep going? I don't agree with these ordinances AT ALL, but at the same time, if everyone was completely responsible, then it would be really hard for these things to get passed. It's hard to argue with an average of 65 complaints a day as a statistic. Not saying that all dog owners down there are bad, but this should be a wake up call for dog owners everywhere. Promote responsible ownership in your communities.
