Kalibeck

by Kalibeck on 20 February 2008 - 14:02

Shhhhhhhh! Don't wanna know! BTW- After 24 hours of persistantly unhappy wife, and a few well reasoned pleas, Carl is relenting about keeping a puppy.....!!! Thank goodness! Now I can go back to excited/ nervous/ incredibly busy!!! I'll post again when something else developes, and I sincerely want to thank you for being so supportive,,,Also, Wolf has an appt. for next Thursday for hip & elbow exam, microchipping, etc. Unfortunately Carl's daughter has been in hospital for some cardiac issues, Wolf has been missing her very much! She comes back home today! Yay! Getting furniture moved around to accomodate whelping box, cleaning, cleaning---I feel like I'M nesting!!! Thanks again, everyone- you are the best! jh

Shelley Strohl

Shelley will take good care of yu........just get lots of snacks ready for the night in question......

SNACKS HELL! She'd better have a bottle of good CA Pinot Noir and a no-spill sippy-cup in with the whelping supplies! I'd suggest Carl to put cup-holders and a snack tray on that whelping box! LOL He's a good carpenter by trade. Shouldn't take him but a few extra minutes. Maybe he can patent the box?

Tell Carl its time for that big house, on acreage, HUGE garage/shop for his tinkering, and far from those hobby-deprived neighbors always sticking their noses in everybody's business! You're married now. Put the screws to him. LOL  By the time the sale closes on the new place the litter will be old enough to move... the ones you don't keep now that you'll have plenty of room that is.

Poor Carl. Truly a wonderful man, deeply spiritual, with a kind and gentle soul, God bless him. I'm gonna miss him when he is eventually forced to throw me off the property for instigating domestic discord, joining ranks with my other best friends' husbands.   ;-) Ha ha ha.

BTW: I have met Wolf. Nice dog, SOLID nerves, probably could have gone a long way had his previous owner bothered to title him. He's probably a darned good match as a breeding partner for Kallie even under the circumstances. Both parents have black-recessive in their pedigrees, so there's a chance the litter will have a wide variety of coat colors, markings, very deep pigment.

Jackie- you missed a good training session yesterday. The young helper, who came up and worked dogs here, John Kennedy from MD, did a good job. (Will post more in a new thread later after mid-day chores) He's promised to come back, so don't think you're going to use those puppies as an excuse to stay home from club much this spring. Ha ha ha. Beckett-the Terrible needs an "approved" outlet for his creativity, lest he finish demolishing the house entertaining himself, yes? ;-D

Tell me about it!!!  The whelping box is now the center feature of our living room! No room left to sit on sofa, watch tv, walk to stereo, etc....I never had a cluttered house until I moved into this little sardine can.... try condensing the contents of our 2600 square foot home in Las Vegas into this ~850 square foot cracker box. Not a happy camper. Now add me, Carl, 2 big dogs, and soon a litter of pups; add a big dose of menopause, a pinch of geezer-head, and SHAKE HARD! Maybe that's why I'm addled! jh (but he says he likes it like this, know why? We own it free & clear--no mortgage!! That's a tough point to rebutt!)

And absolutely, we will get Beckett on the field this spring. I have a nice wire crate the little monster-babies can ride along in & watch! After about 5-6 weeks they can come out & start socializing, right? Or after 1st shots? You'll have to give me the puppy socialization primer. And, yes, I think Wolf is a quality male. He'll be coming back for a visit next week to get his hips done. EJ has a police officer friend that was looking for a dog with the Grim lines for police work, but he isn't interested unless we get Wolf's hips done & they come back OK. If a police officer wants a puppy for police work, do you donate the pup to him? And how do you know that he will be a good owner? Can you still require that he return the pup to you before selling it, or if it does not 'make the grade'? Questions, questions, questions! jh

good luck to you, the pups, kali, wolf, carl and i hope carl's daughter is okay. make sure you take pics (lots) of the puppies and of you and shelley drinking good wine out of sippy cups! i wish you could package puppy breath and sell it!! you'd be a millionaire! again, good luck!

That's what you call it?  A cracker box.  :)

That's about what we have here too on our main level.  Have basement too, but that doesn't really count IMO.

Got 3 big dogs, a cat, and a husband.

How's mom feeling ?

Kalibeck

by Kalibeck on 22 February 2008 - 21:02

She's very anxious, restless, doesn't want to lay down. Her teats are huge, she is huge, the vet said she was at 42 days on Monday, but my gut says this is going to be sooner than that....I have been nag-nag-nagging Carl & he is FINALLY putting her whelping box together while I'm at work today. She is VERY hungry, so she's not ready to go yet; I was really scared that a low pressure system, big snow storm, & pregnant dog would equal premature puppies...Wolf gets his hips done on Thursday AM, so my vet will be able to give me an idea on where we stand there...Poor Kali, she gets upset when I leave for work, and nearly does back flips with her big belly when I come home. She clings to me when I'm home, keeps giving me that doggie smile, "as long as you're here, I'm all right" Her temp hasn't dropped, but when it does, I'm not leaving the house, or her side for love nor money( that means for Carl or work!) jackie harris
