Sue, correct you should have a UScA membership to put your name to the petition.

MORE IMPORTANTLY this is NOT ABOUT SHOW vs WORKING, this is about the organization that we belong to NOT following its OWN  rules of the sieger show as stated on the website, to the membership, and the world.

The Organization proclaims this statement on the home page of the website;

Welcome to the United Schutzhund Clubs of America

where our membership is "For the German Shepherd Dog"

Well, you know what? The Membership is PROVING THAT, too bad the officals are NOT!!!

Okay, time to actually make those words mean something. If they are words to live by, then the organization NEEDS to promote, enforce, and EDUCATE about the Rules of the Sieger Show and ALL the other RULES it pulls out of a hat. The sieger show is a large event, that has the attention of literally thousands of people, mostly those who own, and love the breed for its utility. Where was the utility at this year's show?

We talk a lot about Kennel Blindness, well, the officials in the organization have show line blindness. We need to help them open their eyes, and SEE that their CONTINUED refusal to enforce the rules of the sieger show, continues to promote sub par training, performance and temperament. It is all called into question now. Frankly, it is rather obvious that the officials are hoping we will forget that this occurred.  Dee will get bored with this and go back to complaining on all the forums about how show line dogs lack the working ability. Well, yes, Dee does do that, but Dee also knows there are many show lines who can work, do, and show it! Too bad when those dogs do, they get the same declaration of pronounced and outs that other dogs get, who do NOT deserve it.

It seems to be "they" proclaim change at a whim and expect the working dog membership to "cowboy up" and follow the rules, usually with notice at the event. WE HAVE A WHOLE FREAKIN' year until next year's show. Come on! Give us (and I mean US, I have show line)  folks some credit! The expectation is that the rules will be followed, the expectation is that the rules will be enforced. Seriously, it is two simple exercises. Heeling to the Attack out of the Blind, drive, out, guard. Run for a courage test, engage WITH COURAGE, and Energy, HOLD ON, OUT, guard!  Please, don' t even get me started about the defition of pronounced! Hey, maybe that is a discussion we should have as well. Maybe we can educate the officials as to what it really means.

I seriously, do not understand why some people think that the way the show has been judged for so many years is acceptable. Talk about a Santa Claus!

The time is NOW to make a change! Put your name, MEMBERSHIP NUMBER, and your comments on the petition! SPEAK UP!

~Dee

Today would be a good day to add your name and MEMBERSHIP # to the petition!

Every day I read the list of signatures fully expecting to see those of certain members of this board and other GSD breed boards, the breeders who are always the first to brag about their dogs and how important is to fairly test  dogs before they are used for breeding. They always say they subscribe to and never fail to adhere to the SV rules. I'd think they would be the first ones to want to make sure the bar is raised high enough so that a TBS means something.  Still looking, maybe they are the ones who are anonymous? Or maybe their names aren't there because they have litters out of or own some of the SS VA dogs that didn't look quite so impressive this year?

Some walk the walk, while other just talk the talk.

Even  if some people were perhaps lax themselves regarding the rules, it is certainly not too late to recognize there is a need for change, sign this petition and move forward,  for the good of our beloved breed.

Does anyone know who the handler of Gusto Mittelwest was?

Blitzen, I read what you stated above this morning, and actually thought about it most of the day while I was at work, wishing I was at training. ( I hate being the boss sometimes!)

I came to several conclusions, none seemed to make sense though. I would think the members who have yet to sign, know they should, probably want to, and may still sign. I am seeing an increasing amount of integrity in the membership. I hope it splashes over to the EB. I think in time it will, and maybe within this same process, those who have yet to ADMIT they agree with the petition, will add their name.

I am pretty impressed already with those who have added their name, and more so with those who have emailed me the membership number they mistakenly left off(that is a BIG help to me!)

Everyday the number of names increases. It would be nice to increase substantially, but it is still increasing. I hear that there is a LOT of discussion about this on a few forums I do not frequent.

Again, I remind USA membership to KEEP in mind what this particular petition is about. It is about the rules that have been in place but not followed in regard to the USA Sieger Show. We all know there are other areas of the organization that need reformatting, so to speak. I appreciate that many members are bringing up these other areas. It is not that I find those areas any less deserving of the attention than this petition, it is that I do NOT want the intent of this petition lost in the overall outcry for correction.

Someone mentioned to me in an email that what I was doing was Futile, things will stay as they are. I thought about that, and realized things ALREADY are changing. The membership is working together to make a change, and to present to the EB, that what has been accepted previously, is NOT going to be acceptable now.

I think there comes a time when any higher level management realizes a mistake has been made, and that they have to find a way to work it out with the membership. I think that time is arriving.  We have really only begun our endeavor to bring forth the change. We have a really good start. I am encouraged and I believe others are as well.

It is not too late to add your name and your membership number to the petition.

Trailrider,

They can sign, and when they find their membership number, they can email me with it and I will hand write it onto the petition before it goes to the EB.

Apparently, some games are afoot!
