LOL... I've never read the Harry Potter books. Here's one for you, "skelf"... it's Scottish, not even the rest of the UK uses it!
Yes, a choke collar is a check. Confusing isn't it?
Missbeeb,
Sorry. FR= French Ring and "Ringers"= people who train in French Ring.
The multiple e-collars, done by people who know what they are doing, is not lazy training. Now, the e-collar as a bludgeon for quick results is lazy trainng, IMO. Listening to a couple "high level competitors" and using that method with my first schutzhund dog is what led to my trip to the emergency room. As I said, I learned. :-)
Skelf sounds like it would be some kind of fish. :-)
It's a splinter. We have some weird and wonderful words.
I was hoping for more video.
.........:(
Jenni says: These people have insufficient genitalia syndrome. E collars worn 2-3 at a time, on bellies and flanks, over genitals, people LAUGHING b/c the dog was scared to move w/3 E collars on his body, all cranked to high stim. They say the dogs are too "high-drive" to live in the house; I say they're too FUCKED UP...because they FUCKED them up...by breeding for imbalance and then by the treatment they receive in the name of points. These ridiculous corrections weren't for a serious offense; his platz was crooked.
Exactly what we have seen here a couple of times..Ad that's why I don't do schutzhund anymore..There are not many club in my areas and most aloud those kind of behavior..I just can't stand it!! AND NOBODY SAYS ANYTHING!! AND THEY CALL THAT TRAINING..Every god damn person I know who have done shcutzhund have seen it..but still they call that training.
PUT YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND..AND STOP TELLING EVERYBODY THOSE THINGS DON'T HAPPEN..SOME DOG SOMEWHERE IS HAVING IS BUTT KICK RIGHT NOW IN THE NAME OF SPORT!! BUT HEY.WHY SHOULD I CARE!
Good for the ones who have good club. Schutzhund itself is a great sport!!
I also agree. Generally, the clubs where abuse is tolerated, or, worse, part of the club training culture, are well-known. Fortunately, I am in an area where one club has actually banned an abusive trainer (not ever a member of the club) from even entering any of its trial or shows. In my current club, some of the abusive things I have seen happen elsewhere, would simply not be tolerated...and I am not the only one who' whip out a cell phone. In one club, now virtually defunct, so much questionable training was done by the training director alone that there were Mal and gsd breeders who would not sell puppies to anyone training in that club. By "questionable" I mean a force retrieve brutal enough to cause a big male rottie to go into arrest; using a cattle prod on testicals to get an out (on a dog that had also been forced to bite with brutal means by the same person); backtying an 8 month old puppy so it could neither sit, stand, nor lie down and whaling on it, until it bit, etc.
There IS a difference between training "defence" and placing a dog in a situation in which "self-preservation" becomes the word of the day.
Dear God... these people should be pts!
Missbeeb,
I have tried prayer, VooDoo, visualization, trot and I Ching on one of the main offenders, and it just didn't work. Slowly, but surely, age, health issues and preceding reputations are "culling" them from the community.
July9000,
What part of Canada are you in?
