# 1 all of the aid sent to the people will not get properly disbursed FACT # 2 a sizable amount will be hijacked into the black market for sale Fact# 3 Those corrupt officials will and do and have done this for many years Fact1   So since the Haitian people gained there Independence they have remained the most impoverished country in the western hemisphere!FACT Compare the progress of the DR equally to the Haitians who have recieved far more financial and donations than the dr and they occupy the same island! I have heard from many charitable organizations that Quote " there is no oppurtunity for the locals to improve the lot in life they live"unquote Now tell us why there is no OPPURTUNITY in the Haitian land to improve ones self! No new businesses created ? No equal distrubution of aireable farm land to work. What are the major exports of Haiti/ This is a waste of breath ! It is extremely evident that you know absolutely NOTHING about the island nation of Haiti! Do you know the the gdp of haiti has steadly decreased each of the last twenty years1 Why do I waste my time trying to educate fools????

Good.  So then be quiet about it.

Ok, we've got a lot of people on this forum involved in municipal jobs - police, fire, etc.  Look at this email and think if you know of any ambulances that could be shipped to Haiti ASAP - they need vehicles!:

ADEN/GAPEL
3, RUE EPINARD – VIA B.DE MARBOIS DELMAS 31
COMMUNE DE DELMAS PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI

Executive Director
A GIFT FOR LIFE
Miami, USA

Dear Ms. ROLDOS,

ADEN/GAPEL, are two non for profit organizations based in Haiti , that have been in existence for over a decade working in Education, Health , Environment and Agriculture. Our goal is to accompany the less fortunate in their struggle for a better life.

The needs are multiple. In that sense, we are trying to provide ambulances in three major cities of Haiti: One in the North (Cap-Haitian) HOPITAL JUSTINIEN, the second in the Artibonite (HOPITAL LA PROVIDENCE, and the third in the South (Les Cayes) HOPITAL IMMACULEE CONCEPTION. Knowing in emergency cases, reliable transportation and first aid are essential in saving life.

We are therefore asking A GIFT FOR LIFE, its assistance by providing these three ambulances.

GAPEL will cover all aspects of custom in dealing with the Haitian authorities. ADEN will ensure the delivery of the ambulances in all three cities upon arrival in Haiti.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance anticipating a favorable answer.

Please accept our deepest regards.

Sincerely,

Gabriel BIEN AIME

Hi Micky D,

My bet would be that there will be plenty of such vehicles shipped there in the coming days and weeks. When the relief efforts have stabilized, I would not be surprised at all that some of those vehicles shipped by the US government or military might end up being there long term, and possibly even left as gifts when the rescuers end up finally leaving.

Tess, don't bother to respond to Raymond. He does not have a clue about anything, and this is just one more aspect where he shows it. He knows nothing about disaster response and little else. As for his donation....I agree....yeah, right. He sent such a sum even knowing all he knows about how unlikely it is to reach anyone in need......LOL

Tess I say I will be as quite as you do! You are no better than any one else so why not you be quite also! Can you do that?

Quite what?

by TessJ10 on 15 January 2010 - 21:01

I'm not the one saying that talking about it is "a waste of breath" and that I am "wasting my time" talking about it.  YOU said those things, not me.  So do what you say you will do:  be quiet about it.

hodie, you're right that raymond knows nothing about disaster response, and I know that everybody on here knows it, too.

Did you see that the Haitians pulled a young boy alive from building wreckage today?  Wonderful.

tess you and hodie know absolutely nothing about me so would you stiffle! Practice what youy preach please! It is a waste of breath talking to idiots but idiots always have something more to say do the not! Ah come on reply and prove the point! as usual you and hodie never provide any proof of your accusations!~You make off hand comments without any knowledge of what you are talking about! My comment was to be cautious in who you send money to and ole hodie just had to start running her mouth! Wait and see and when the proof is on the news I will spoon feed it to you!

by hodie on 15 January 2010 - 21:01

Yes, Tess, I saw several people pulled out today. And last night, the national news channels had a great interview with the Icelandic team who had just pulled someone out alive. The problem is that there are likely hundreds trapped who may be alive and there simply are not enough skilled rescuers to find them and get to them in time. As well, today there was another very powerful aftershock. With the scope of the disaster, sadly, many will die before help gets to them. I had a note today from a friend who shared the comments of a mutual friend who is there. This mutual friend said the stench of death is now becoming overpowering everywhere one goes. The logistics of all this relief effort, on every front, including what to do with the dead, is just mind boggling. Surely many lessons will be learned by us all who have ever been involved in emergency or disaster response.

As for Raymond, yes, everyone here knows what to expect from him.

Here's a group people might want to support:

Virginia Task Force I International Urban Search and Rescue has been deployed to assist in the Haitian earthquake recovery. There are 6 canine members of the unit. The United Nations Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) has classified this unit as a medium and heavy level response team, one of only three in the world with this designation, and the only one in the United States. If any individuals or clubs would like to make monetary donations to the unit, they may be addressed as follows:

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department
Urban Rescue Section - Canine Program
4600 West Ox Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030
