I thought Ugly dog that the thread was to ask for opinions on why people have guns.  I can see by your aggressive response why you do!  Growing up in a gun culture has obviously warped your mind so that if anyone else has an alternative opinion you must slam it down.  You throw in red herrings eg banning cars etc because you do not have the ability to write a logical and intelligent reply like others have done - typical bully boy tactics.  Ugly dog by name Ugly dog by nature.

all you have is a warped mind, No one and i mean one forces in this world on equal numbers are a better fighting force than  the English soldier, and that is something that will never be proven one way or the other no matter how long we talk about it, and to debate on it demeans all soldiers world wide living, or those great men and women no longer with us and i will not be drawn into that

Before i stop this posting i would guess you have been in the forces and seen action and learned to Fire those Guns you so much praise as if they were a God, if you have been  in the forces then you know the damage they do well enough without boasting about them in the manner you do

I had a burglar try to steal some african grey breeding pairs that I had in the florida room. I didnt have time to unlock the gun, put it together.  I have trained  in weaponry with many  X military veteran friends , & spar hand to hand with some of the best in the world, for what its worth.   Far as service..Ive no interest. I too trained in the art of self denfence, and trained for 6 days a week for 10 solid years, I too can disable a man or in fact could break his neck  with little effort if ever it came to that but of course that has not and never will happen but i did learn a bit for my efforts of over 10 years, but this a great many years ago of course, now i am what is known as an oldster, but still no fool

But even then there is always someone better than yourself,

You rely on Guns for piece of mind, but i would guess if you had to live without them you and many others over there would be frightened people, and live in fear because you have no guns to protect you

its not the part of owning a Gun i find distastful in your posts but the fact that you positively gloat on the prospect of owning them as if they were God

The USA has started more wars than any other country in the world but they have never finished one of them, and after spending trillions of dollars fighting needless wars and they have, just to try and tell the World that they in there mind they think they  are saviours of the free world, and in there minds rule the World, and they are the only ones to think that no one else does now they are reaping what they have sown, but the worse is they are destroying other countries economy in the process

My contention is this if Civil war broke out in the USA then it will be people against the Govenment and it could happen

Whats the betting if it did that the right to carry and use Guns would be stopped, that is if they have enough law enforcment to act on it and it does not look that way, with the amount of guns owned by the public

This post may give some the idea that i dislike people from the USA, far from it i knew many USA service men years ago and drank with them in the local Pubs i know a couple over here at the present time, very  nice people

i never bother about race , colour or where they are from, its the person i take to or not, so this post is not meant to offend the many good people on this site
