I am very well aware that this Forum is for expressing opinions, but give the owners of C. Lesko a break, they deserve this.   Keith and Lorna have waited a long time for this dog to come into their lives and they are a very caring dedicated couple, who have had patience over many years.  Well done to you both and we wish you many happy years of showing with him.

What a lot of people forget is that although the breeder of the dog/bitch has a large percentage part to play in the producing of the animal it is then over to the new owner to bring this dog on to what it is now - obviously genetics has the upperhand as well.  However, once that puppy is sold on the new owners has to nurture and care for them and then train them correctly which is bloody hard work as we all know.  They are the ones who are dedicated, the ones who feed, care for and get their hopes up when they start to show them.  Many breeders are helpful and give lots of input, which I am pretty sure Andrew does with all his puppies, but some don't give a damn once they leave the kennels (personally I have found this to be in the minority over the years thank goodness).

The dog is the correct standard - he is neither roach nor dippy - he has a correct topline and conforms to the SV Standard - he is also NOT OVERSIZE - WHICH IS A MAJOR PROBLEM IN BOTH UK AND GERMANY.  Like most on here it is time the KC opened their eyes and this judge has just handed it to them on a plate, what more do they want.  Good on him to have the guts to withhold the awards in a whole class of 12 - how many judges have the bottle to do that.  I saw it once in all the years I have been in showing - first 3 place withheld as the dogs were not to standard.  The Show was Border Union a few years ago - like it or lump it,  the man had the courage of his convictions.

This is the way it should be - we would have a lot more respect for the judge who is honest and has the guts to say this dog is not good enough, than continually watch dogs being given top honours when they have very visible serious major construction faults.

Combine a judge like Tony Stanbra with compulsory health tests and bingo we have the correct GSD in the rings and being bred on.

It is my opinion that the MAJORITY OF BREEDERS IN THE UK BREED THIS CORRECT GSD and LONG MAY IT BE THAT WAY.

I really hope that the judges wife reports the person who abused her and puts her money on the table, this is the only way to root these idiots out, because if you back off you are doing what they want.   Her husband had the guts to do the right thing , so Mrs. Stanbra report the person who did this to you and lets get shot of them from the Breed, because that is certainly what they deserve (there must be multiple witnesses to call on if need be).  If more people stood up and did something about this kind of abuse the Breed would be better for it.

We want to go to Shows to enjoy ourselves, watch great dogs in the ring and go home satisfied that the judge on the day was HONEST - is that to much to ask.  I hope the person who did this is ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES, but then again a leopared never changes its spots does it.

Just wanted to say congratulations to Conadrew Lesko and his owners and breeders. He is a beautiful example of the breed with a very nice topline.

Some may have read my comments regarding (some) German show line 'types' in my opinion not conforming to the SV breed standard, particularly with regard to topline, hocks and movement. My opinion on this is unchanged but I do not wish to be associated with posters such as
georgehopwood as his comments appear uninformed to say the least.

My personal goal, which should be the goal of any GSD breeder, is to strive to produce the best they can from the best (& widest) available stock as close to the SV breed standard as possible. In my eyes the breeders of Conadrew Lesko have done just that. Congratulations, he is gorgeous!

Surely, any breeder, should want to breed to enhance the breed, not to put more dogs in the system that can carry defects. I would never breed dogs, but if i did, i would be mortified to produce any pups that were destined to have a life of pain, and to cause the owners such problems and heartache.

IMO dogs should ONLY be breed to strengthen a breed, and not to line someone's pockets. These are living breathing creatures, that deserve to have the best start in life, not to be doomed to pain and discomfort. It is also irresponsible, to pass the responsibility for the welfare of these animals onto unsuspecting pet owners.

I have learnt that many large Kennels are just a bad as these breeders who do not do checks etc. I am appalled and really disappointed that a lot of the larges Kennels brush problems under the carpet and hope there problems will go away, how can the BYB strengthen the breed when the Top Kennels are just as bad.

the fact is that without the public dog breeding would not exsist, its the public that keep you breeders afloat and as far as I'm concerned the public should be treated with more respect and looked after by the breeders than they are getting !.

What would happen to all the excess puppies that breeders do not retain for breeding or showing without the public to buy them all ??????.  The health issues are a nightmare and way out of control especially where Epilepsy etc, etc, etc is concerned. Even when certain breeders have been told by more knowledgeable breeders that they are breeding from known epileptic lines they just bury their heads and carry on breeding from the same stock without a care about the poor dogs and the trauma the owners go through seeing their beloved pets suffer !.

As for posting a picture of what I think is a good GSD, I really do not know what a German Shepherd Dog is anymore !!!

David Payne please do not swear at me...........maybe I touched a nerve ???

And I am a MRS not a MR

ok jo or george  you stated  I would never breed dogs, that means you are like a back seat driver, you make statements about things that are not correct that is because you have not been there and done it (and then want to tell the ones that have how to do it) another of your statements reads As for posting a picture of what I think is a good GSD, I really do not know what a German Shepherd Dog is anymore !!!         but you took the time to slate the cc winner at crufts???  all i can say is please please do not start to breed because the dog world can do without your sort      seeing as you wont be donating your £500 to welfare why not use some of it to buy some good books on the gsd and maybe learn something before coming on here and talking a lot of poo
not all breeders are bad or cheat and lie infact most are honest do all health tests etc look after their puppies and try very hard to get them good homes and do not sell to the first person who comes along but in all walks of life you will always get people who will try to make a quick buck dog breedng/showing is no different and you will always get a joe public who will buy from them maybe because the pup is £50 cheaper or because they believed the lies and did not check up on the breeder
