Our opinions, our likes and dislikes do not matter. What matters is what the creator of the breed have said and intended by creating GSD.  And I venture to say that he is spinning in the grave. Like a propeller.
Show dogs these days are NOT  working dogs which are also great looking. It is foolish statement at best and harmful lie at worst to say such silly stuff. Show dogs  more often then not are usually  retarded dogs (read as not capable of real work), which with their looks cater to current fad of stuck up show breeders of what GSD should look like in a show ring. If the show dog can also work then is is only an atavistic throwback and not a purposely bred quality.

The only objection I have to all of this is speaking of dogs that have poor color/pigment.

There are other colors aside from black and red.  Quite frankly, I'm sick of seeing black and red.  I love a good black and TAN dog!  And just because a dog is tan/gold it DOES NOT mean he has poor pigment/color.
