Firstly there should be a section just for Mals on here or perhaps there is, if so do the Mali fanciers frequent that part of this website.
Regards Sharon and Sam they were as Sue says 1st WUSV in 2009 and 2nd WUSV in 2010, Fantastic performance from a single entry.
Sharon is a very nice Girl i spoke to her in Sevilla and Sam is a great Dog. How many Mals v G.S were there in the FCI anyone got a link to the entrants.
I agree with Dudrino that the Showline is a mere shadow of the German Shepherd dog of long ago.
I can bite harder than most of them and i certainly have more Drive and Push than most.
But Biting is not only what they are kept for i guess the Showing side is not so easy of what i have seen a lot of work and kudos for those who do it.

There is a breed specific section on this site for Malinois, just like there is one for GSD. Although there still seems to be a lot of GSD specific discussions in the all breed (this) section.

Thank you Malndobe and yes Steven (also known as My Baby Daddy), THIS IS THE ALL BREED MESSAGE FORUM.  Being that the FCI is an ALL BREED organization and the FCI IPO Championship was an ALL BREED event, I figured this was the perfect place for the thread.  It wasn't a MALINOIS ONLY event (although it almost seemed like that didn't it Malndobe?) but an ALL BREED event so hence, my post.  If you want to hug the German Shepherd Only crowd, go play on the GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG ONLY MESSAGE BOARD.

Lest we forget:  This site was originally started for the GSD ONLY and its popularity is based on that fact.  In addition, the sport of schutzhund owes its entire existence to the GSD.  I think dog lovers and dog sport enthusiasts should keep these points in mind before posting some of the crap I was reading earlier in this thread.

Actually the site was started for GSD, but it has morphed into an all breed site, and more than just GSD owners frequent this site now, for the pedigrees and the forum.  I've been a member since 2007 and since I've never owned a GSD, and have no interest in ever owning one, nothing against the breed it's just not the breed for me, I can promise I didnt join for the GSD content.  There is a GSD only section, but this is the "All Breed (general)" section and GSD owners shouldn't get upset when all breeds are discussed.

In addition, the sport of schutzhund owes its entire existence to the GSD.

But like this site, it morphed into an all breed event and is now used by a number of breeds, mainly of German origin, as one of the main working tests for the breed.

I think dog lovers and dog sport enthusiasts should keep these points in mind before posting some of the crap I was reading earlier in this thread.

You mean like your comments about Malinois? :-)

Maywood I can't even begin to understand your last post.  What difference does it make that this site was originally only for GSDs since it is now a BETTER site, thanks to the addition of other breeds and their enthusiasts?  Same thing with schutzhund.  Everyone knows schutzhund started with GSDs.....so what?  Who cares?  What's your point?

I wasn’t necessarily upset, I just think bashing the GSD makes you look foolish and only shows your lack of knowledge in the history of the breed and the sport schutzhund.  I am merely reminding you of these things so maybe you might learn something so you don’t look so foolish next time.

Also, I didn’t bash Malis per se, but rather felt it was important to point out that the GSD is the true all around greatest dog ever created by mankind.  Attempting to say any breed is a better all around dog than the GSD is rediculous.  What better place to make that point than on the ALL BREED section of the German Shepherd Dog Pedigree Database?  :-)

Sue, I guess all of the working-showline infighting and the lack of respect everyone seems to throw at the breed these days is starting to get on my nerves. A little history reminder doesn't hurt now and then does it?

That is a matter of opinion :-)

I would never agree that GSDs are the greatest all around breed ever created.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.   I can say, that FOR ME, it is the best breed.

I don't consider anyone on this thread to be "bashing" the breed.   People are entitled to their opinions, and I have no problem with the expression of same.  Working Line GSDs are far from perfect, there are areas that certainly need attention.  For me, the biggest issues are health issues.

I hate that saying "GSDs are supposed to be 2nd best at everything".  Where did that come from?  That's really a dumb excuse to use for a reason as to why in head to head competitions in schutzhund (which is a test of all around working ability: tracking, ob, prot), the top placements are Malinois more than GSDs.  I don't know why it is, and I wish it weren't so, but there it is.

I really admire Malinois, but my breed of choice is working line GSDs.  I can find them with tons of drive, tons of heart, and great nerve.  The harder part is finding one who has all that AND good health too - hips/elbows/spine/shoulders.   Plus a dog who can work earlier (say ready and not being pushed by 2 years) and work longer (still compete at 8 or even 9 years).

hahaha my  Holy GSD Grail !!  But like my breed I'm loyal to a fault, so I'll keep looking.

That is not a matter of opinion that is an undeniable fact.  Since we just happen to be on the All breed section maybe it is time to have that conversation.   The GSD is so versatile I can’t think of any breed of animal much less breed of dog that gives humans the ability to do more things with.  Is the GSD not the ultimate dog ever created?  The GSD is the holy grail of the dog world!
