I would not have kept that thread open or this one, if I did not want opinions. I agree that no one is getting crazy, but like all of you we have an opinion on the running of the forums. We are willing to listen, but the only thing off the table is OT and conformation. No one is really to blame, but I can tell you a lot of people felt/feel afraid to post in these forums. Whether they are show line or working line, the common theme over all the PMs I received was the fear to post. Imagine that afraid to do the very thing that brought them here in the first place and that is a little help, a little compassion, a little community amongst people who love the same animals as they do whether they are purple, orange, fat, small, big or tall-it is our responsibility as ambassadors of a breed/s we love, to teach over and over and over-do you think a teacher teaches just once? Every year same questions, same answers, same concerns and same issues no different here.

I disagree on what they have been told. What they have been told is if you don't want to read or post in conformation don't. Which is different than what you are saying. They are free to post their opinions but we are going to keep posting that a decent sized group wants this. Not a majority because the majority either don't care or figure lets give it a try and see. People are still here whether they comment or not, logged in or not.

I keep asking-tell me why we should not do this or why we should? I have heard from a limited number of people who want this and it is apparent by the amount of posts and views in that forum.

Just because we give show people a place to talk does that mean everybody else now stops posting and visiting? I don't see it. I see a few people not posting but like with any change it takes time to adjust. I would hope that people can adjust-I know our dogs can and I can't see why their owners can't.

I will say it again, post where you want, keep the personal attacks out and enjoy. Remember a certain amount of people are still not posting because of our stand on enforcing a rule that every one of us agreed to when we signed up.

We are back to the working line people not being happy, but the OT and SL threads bring in the hits and hence the revenue.  It is all about website visits and hits, bottom line and that is ok.  I think the Conformation Forum is a great idea and is already popular.  I am thrilled that Blitzen is happy.  Why do you think the "working line people" are the biggest opposition?  The site is geared to the Sl folks, the OT folks and pet folks.  That is fine, this isn't a working line, or a sports enthusiast forum any longer.

I say stop complaining about the lack of "hits" on the sports enthusiast or "Chaz forum" and let it go for a little while.  And stop talking about the opposition by the working line people who really haven't said much at all, historically they are not the issue.  Maybe the sport side will pick up.  It will take time to get those members back, that's if they haven't found forums more suited to their working line tastes.

I don't have a problem with anything. I find the humour in everything. Like how this ironically symbolizes the breed as a whole. A breed split. Mmmmmm.....banana split

Wait, are you saying the working line people have left? But then you say "We are back to the working line people not being happy" so if they have left they are not happy, no?

In the 4 days since these forums have been added all these people have left and found other places and made up their minds that this is not a working line site or sport site any longer, the whole time we are offering a forum to cover that very thing. *Really* in 4 days time. Wow. I quit.

You hit the nail on the head, once again Jim.  This is no longer a working dog forum, as it was when I first joined.  There are plenty of SL forums that have working sections and this is just another now.  Funny thing is, I have a SL dog, but am more geared toward the training and topics of the working dog, not necessarily the working lines, although...

I still hope that at some point, the two can come together enough to get the breed back to its intended purposes and that would be to be a working dog first and foremost.  And if you could consistently get what is considered a beautiful dog, by show standards, that wasn't crippled by loose joints or bad temperament, comformation judging wouldn't be an issue.

I love threads such as this: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/forum.read?mnr=144320 , but there aren't nearly enough.  When we can get to a point where this is the norm, that would be a real accomplishment!  But for now, it's a sad state when the SL dogs don't work well and the WL dogs don't show well.

In 4 days time this is not a working dog forum? We are offering the very forum you say this site is not. Oh mylanta.

That thread was started 7 days ago and in that time this place has changed?

So, in those 7 days 2 things happened no personal attacks and the new forums. I rest my case.

GSD,
You missed the point and twisted what I said.  GSDtravels got the point, so it wasn't me.

No, this has not been a working dog forum for a very long time.

No, not in 4 days time, it's been a slow process, but this seems to have sealed the deal for some, I guess.

Let me get this straight. This seals the deal because we added a subsection for show. We took them out of the GSD forum but they now have control? Folks you are twisting this.

Let me repeat-this is a showline forum because we took the show folks and gave them a sub-section?

It is becoming what it is because certain members think the grass is greener on the other side. If more work people posted there would be more work threads, not because we created a sub-section for show people chased the work people away. I can't believe that is what is being said. Because we gave them a sub-section it is affecting this site being a working site?

Wow, I can't even believe I am debating illogical statements.
