If I had a gun I probably would have, hell there was even a COP there... he just watched.. I bet they enjoyed the view.

They knew the dog was aggressive, this is the problem... if I had heard what my dad heard about this dog, or my mother had.. do you think either of us would have gone near it?

Jesus christ people, if someone says you can pet their dog... it usually means it's okay.

I would love to hear from someone else in this club.  This was the first mention of an officer being there too.  I don't doubt that your mom was hurt and I feel awful for anyone that is dog bit.  I've been there and it's scary.  There's usually more than one side to the story and it sounds like you were across the field when it happened.

I disagree about petting dogs even if the owner says it's okay.  I've seen looks in "people friendly" dog's eyes that I would never approach even when it was insisted they were the sweetest animal ever.  People can be blind when it comes to their own pets and I rely on my own judgement.

Brittany How many people have to tell you the same thing?  For ONCE try to learn about dogs instead of assuming that just because your dog is a fluffy bouncy thing everyone elses dog should be the same?  Frankly that's not my kind of dog, but to each their own.  My dogs have all been serious dogs, but guess what - no one has been bitten that wasn't supposed to be bitten.  Why - because I know what I have, I know my responsibilities and I handle them.  So you need to learn to stop making these ridculous statements about something you know nothing about.  The best thing that could happen to you would be to have someone with experience take you under their wing, but you are so obnoxious I am sure you would not even recognize the opportunity if it - bit you in your ass.  Your loss.

By the way - it's not your call - THANK GOODNESS or all schutzhund dogs would be no better than what was shown in the San Jose SS tapes.  I bet you thought those were good dogs too.

MI_GSD you know what the club will say "She was leaning over or she was too close" and this is ridiculous, if there was something wrong with someone would have said something.

I didn't think the cop thing was important until my mother brought it up and it made sense, Baltimore cop, and that is not like some little wimpy city.  I have decided to release the name of the club, they will never treat me right anyway... so it does not matter if I wanted to keep their name safe.

Happy happy joy joy?

So Do Right putting a dog down is a sign of strength thanks all this time i thought it was not having a heart  thanx.Listen at the end of the day no matter how you look at it it is people who are at fault when animals attack or bite or kill.and they lose thier lives for our mistake.beacuse it is easier  to put an animal down then for us to educate ourselves and stop being stupid.hoping this would make sense to you.thanx.

Held you are 100% correct. We as humans are suppossed to be the "thinking" species, yet far too many of us know close to nothing, if it doesn't pertain to us personally.

If I had a dog like that, I would know I was in over my head and give him to someone better equiped to deal with it. As a last resort put it down.

It was very wrong for this owner to bring such a dog out to mingle with visitors, if they really knew he was capable of something like this. How the victim handles the situation is her business but now that the situation is posted here, we as posters are also free to give our opinions whether the OP agrees with them or not. This is bad news for the sport world and the GSD as a breed.

The OP speaks of karma...karma goes both ways. Someday your dogs may be on the other end of this deal. Will you hope the person who got bit goes to animal control?

Hey Sue good for you and Stonehaus it is nice to talk tough and say i would have shot the dog but let's be intelligent here for a minute, and tell me did the dog asked to be there or asked to be petted no.then i see no logic in going after the dog.if you like to sound tough and could use the good old brain i would think you would be going after the handler.he is the one at fault not the dog.but i suppose it would require you to be lot tougher and stronger to go after the handler than the dog.i guess i understand. have a nice one.ps I AM JUST CURIOUS AS TO WHY PEOPLE ARE GOING AFTER THE DOG AND NOT THE ONE WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS.JUST TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE MENTALITY HERE. CAN'T BLAME AGUY FOR TRYING.

If my dog had someones throat in their mouth, I would have the dog put down myself, as hard as it would be... I would NEVER have a dog like that.

Where do you get off thinking the dog's life is more valuble than a childs?  No one has answered that yet.

I also didn't contact animal control, the hospital will do that...duh.

It is the owners fault... but the dog is 7 years old, if he was given away for being aggressive, and the trainer couldn't even deal with him.... I really don't think the dog can be helped, but I will leave that to the professionals, though I know what will be said.

You damn right I am pissed at the owner, that's why they WILL pay for the medical expenses.

Hey sue stink.  The original poster ended her posting with this:

"Thoughts?"

She did not ask for only exttemely knowlegeable trainers like you to comment.

She did not ask for only the thoughts of those that think the dog should be put down.

She did not ask how to change the dog, or if her mother should sue the dogs owner/handler.

Is it always going to be that when I (and a few select others here) post on any given subject, that you can not control yourself and your infatuation with us, that you JUST HAVE TO attack?  As I have been saying to you for two years, can't you just debate a subject without lowering yourself to the height of a cockroach, for even one day?

Geeesh.  You really do have a burr under your saddle, don't you.

I did not address you.  I ignored you actually.  Are you just bored?  Why don't you just do the same and cut the crap.

Yes, I do think that there are dogs that need to be put down.  Anyone out there that thinks otherwise?

I did not say that THIS dog in question needs to be put down.  I would never say that without meeting with the dog, given the limited information we have been provided.  There are also people that need to be put down.  Anyone out there that thinks otherwise?

NO ONE loves dogs more than I do, but c'mon, grow up.  Are you going to say "I'm sorry, I didn't think that he would ever do that again", when the dog that has been aggressive in the past, rips apart a child, because you are an idiot?  Stuff happens. No matter how careful you may intend to be with a dog with problems, stuff happens.

You probably believe abortion is okay, but do not believe that putting down a viscious dog is.
