The fact that Oli does not run this website anymore is obvious. Is there no way that the database can be down loaded and run from someone elses location??? All of the information that is so easy to find on this site is of importance for people who are doing research on dogs and bloodlines. Is the creator of the site not willing to allow someone else to take over????? It would be a HUGE Waste for all the info to Sink with this ship once it is down for good!!!!!!! Best Regards, Dennis Johnson

What happened to Oli? Are we certain that he no longer takes care of this site? And if that is true who does take care of it?

Roger I just read your post about other sites. What happened to: ""Have faith Brothers! RT "" I am not a fan of this messageboard with people posting without being known etc etc. BUT the database is very important and I must say I have NOT found another site with info so easily available.!!!! :-) The database is very well put together with all the important info just a click or two away. It will be a sad day when this Ship Sinks!!!!

I agree that this database is an awesome resource. But someone does have to be doing something with the database...it goes down, and comes back up, albeit for an extended period where we all go though withdrawal and anxiety attacks!!! ;) Some features ARE automatically being updated, as title updates - I trialed and updated a title on one of my dogs and it appeared within 48 hours. But misspellings and duplicates noted in the pedigree update option screen are not being done quickly. If anyone has the expertise, a spare computer to be a dedicated server on a T1 ? line and is **generous** enough to volunteer all these resources for the GSD community to use [and deal with all the cat fights and nonsense that goes on as well] to do this, I would suggest using the telephone and calling Iceland and discussing at least a back up to the data base on a machine elseweher....any ace database programmers on here??? with a home network and servers?

This is what I was getting at with my original post Kougar. I remember hearing that Oli did hand over the site to someone else but it is not being kept up. Even if it became a pay site with a annual fee I think the site would be worth it to everyone who uses it. I would think if everyone had to pay $50.00 a year and there are say 1,000 users who would pay this it would be worth someone's time and energy to keep the database up and working smoothly... Just a thought. I would pay $50.00 a year for such easy info that for the most part is reliable..!!!!!! :-)

Lets say it cost: $50.00 a year @ 1,000 paid members = $50,000.00 @ 500 paid members = $25,000.00 @ 250 paid members = $12,500.00 @ 150 paid member = $7,500.00 Tell me what part time job would pay better that what is listed above???? Hell I do not really know what it takes to make this site run but at $12,500 or above it would be a good part time @ home job..!!!!! Just a thought...

I aggree that it would be a good value at a 50 buck a year subscription...I doubt that there are 1000 people willing to pay that...after all people are spoiled because it has been free so long! However, having spent 10 years in a software company, I have a vague idea of some of the complications and costs involved in maintaining a site to take the kind of traffic this one bears...with a dedicated server and a back up machine you would still need to have the access to it via a fairly expensive "ramp" from what I remember - I was the person who paid the bills for those trunk lines for internet transmissions...I don't understand the specifics of how much traffic each line could support, but I know it wasn't your typical 49.99 per month DSL line...I don't think hosting a site of this magnatude would be feasible on most hosting companies where you pay for your domain name and get x amount of space per year. Don't we have any real life computer gurus on here?

Kougar & Hundeguy, If the sites owner wants to close it,smash it to pieces etc thats their business not yours. What is it with you Americans having to always interfer because you disagree with how someone else runs things?Ever wondered why the rest of the world is turning against you?Such arrogance, accept this site for what it is or start your own.Why not send in your military to seize it(they would more than likely stuff that up as well).

Really low blow Axe Man and totally uncalled for..... it appeared to me that both Kougar and Hundguy were trying to HELP!!!
