I am toying with the idea of taking a dog from Germany to India to show there for a month or so , and then bring him back with me to USA or may be drop him back in Germany to finish training. I have taken dogs to India before when i used to live there, but have never brought a dog from India . Are you folks aware of any quarantine regulations affecting dogs coming from India to USA / Germany? I don't want my dog to end up in Quarantine or sent back to India.

There are no problems in taking back a dog from India to USA.The dog needs to have all his vaccines updated.I've friend who got a Dobe pup from USA and after she compeleted her championship here she was send to USA to be shown there and bred. She'll again come back to India.Sending a dog back to Germany is not a problem too.Abdullah Noori has done it many times. His dogs also travel to many other European countries and they come back to India and go back there on a regular basis.

Thanks Big B. That is good news. I have not shown in india for a long time now - would love to do it. I saw from your previous post that your show is just before the twin all breed show. I would like to come. Calcutta shows are great - possibly the most passionate dog show crowd I have seen and some great judges . How do I get an application form? Can I fax it to you after filling? Does the dog have to land in india before KCI gives it a registration? Earlier, there was a temporary registration given at short notice, but KCI was planning to change it - Do you know the current status? Does the club take care of hotel bookings if I send the money in advance? I am just so excited. My original plan was to come 2 weeks later, but now I will try to re-schedule.

It's great to know you're planning to show in Kolkata. You can email the details of the dog i.e.(Name,sex,date of Birth,Sire and Dam and the class you want to show)to the Secretary at: gsdci_knc@rediffmail.com Your hotel accomodation can also be arranged.KCI still gives Provisional Registration no.To get that you need to send a copy of the pedigree. Many times dogs were shown in India which landed one day before the show or sometimes on the day of the show even. But to be on the safe side it's better you land atleast 2/3days before the show if you're coming directly to Kolkata from abroad because sometimes it takes around 3hrs to clear the dog from International Cargo.Obviously if the dog comes as excess baggage then it's very fast. I promise this will be a fantastic show.

HOWDEDO, I've spoken with the secretary of the GSDCI Kolkata New Chapter. They'll extend all possible help if you're seriously interested to show in Kolkata.
