Okay... Has anyone noticed the American Breds being registered in the database? Complete with their ROM titles to boot! Okay, some German dogs behind them but... Mike

by LuvCzechDawgz on 26 August 2004 - 18:08

BUT...... Despite our "personal preference" for the German breed they are still German Shepherds. So what dog did you see MIKE. I would like to see an example. I hadn't noticed My preference personally is for working line but I wouldn't dare be objectionable to those postings for showline, inter-cross (show/working) and American lines. To each his own...

Don't stare too long, you might be struck by a bolt of lightening LOL. Not meaning to be a smartass, is this board only for imports? I really don't know.

by Schaeferhund on 26 August 2004 - 19:08

Imports, Blitzen?? Imports into where?? It's not an american board, it's icelandic :D ;-) What is a ROM anyway? Beside CD-ROM :D

well - with so many American AKC type breeders bringing German lines into their programs, perhaps these dogs are needed to be the foundations of the newer breedings taking place now. Perhaps they are trying to bring the AKC style dog into comliance with the standards as was stated at the WUSV meeting a few years ago - I believe the AKC GSD club had 10 years to accomplish this.

by Blitzen on 26 August 2004 - 19:08

Oh, OK, not sure how else to put it, so never mind LOL. ROM is register of merit, a title awarded by the GSDCA. Not sure of the details, but I think it has something to do with number of AKC champions produced.

lts a shame that in your opinion only dogs from Germany are the only people that breed quality dogs and should compete for your titles. Why don't you go back and study the history of the breeding that produced the dogs we have today. Check the dogs from Australia, Holland, England, France, Italy,Spain, they are all producing excellent annimals. People with your ego and narrow mind set are a disgrace to the wonderful breeders we have all over this world. `

by Charlie Ivory on 26 August 2004 - 23:08

Geez George' Let me guess, you have high blood pressure? I don't think anybody is being narrow minded, your entitled to your opinion as I am mine. Look back to the original breed standard and compare it to the AKC standard.......two totaly different dogs, I like the East German dogs better myself, alot of people do not. So what? It has nothing to do with ego, it is simply fact East West American , who cares. The AKC is one of the biggest jokes I know of, nothing but money hungry and could care less about any standards. You mention check Australia,Holland,England,France. Italy and Spain.........Maybe you should check? Check back a little further and you will see that more likely then not they are German dogs. And just for the record, I'm American and live in the United States. Lighten up a bit George, enjoy life!

No one has yet to post an example. All I see here is bickering. I would at least like to see if these dogs are good representatives of what America is producing, but I have not seen any in the database yet. There are some American bred dogs that fit the FCI standard better than some German dogs, you know. I am, by far, a fan of the European dog be him from Sweden, France, Italy, or the almighty Germany; however some American breds have turned my head lately as well. Just like there are some hideous dogs to come out of Germany, there are some that come out of America as well. Let's just agree that a well-bred shepherd is nice no matter what soil it was bred upon.
