Is breeding a female that was supposed to be retired when she had DM a good idea? Maybe rick from ohio should ask his new friend in Pittsburg about that?  Perhaps you can start a thread about breeders who have yet to title a dog from their own program, that would make for interesting reading................

Kougar's dam, Arrow (Adra), is on my list of most-favorite-ever GSDs I've personally known. I would have taken her home in a second, if only Molly would have let her out of her sight. Super smart, healthy, drivey, confident, strong, beautiful to look at, good with children, strong in protection, focused in tracking, keen in obedience.

And she definitely did not have Pannus as a young dog. (Just in case the doubters don't want to take Molly's word for it.)

I have a dog with Pannus. She is out of Dutch and German working lines.  She develeloped it at 18 months. It is a auto immune eye disease and it is genetic but is made worse by exposure to sunlight. There are a couple mof different forms of it and my dog has the worse type. It is treatable with cyclosporin and steroids. I have to treat my dog daily or she will go blind. She also has allergies and a bad hip. She is 12 years old and still seeing!

Why would you post such a question to a public breed board?

Wanderer, thanks for posting the link to that article.  It was a good overview.  However, after reading it, it's not clear whether or not this condition is heritable at all, in the sense that one dog can pass it on directly to offspring.

Any idea where to find out more facts about this condition?

I agree this type of post is uncalled for and totally unaccceptable. You should never make this type of charges without 100% proof.

DesertRangers, I have to hand it to Molly, she handles this crap a lot better than I would.
