I must say I watched those videos and was very disgusted. There were some nice, well trained dogs. However, the majority couldn't even heel to the blind. I am embarassed for the handlers and breeders of these dogs. The SS is a National level competiton. Prepare your dog and yourself for the event. I bet all (well most) of these dogs could gait and be stacked in the ring. You know in advance what the protection routine is, there are no surprises. If your dog is so weak that you can't put any pressure on it make it heal to the blind or it can't handle the out, maybe the dog is not SS material. So part of the blame lies with the owners. But, if the judges let these dogs be pronounced, then why not enter them. I am glad to hear something may be done about the judging by the BAC. If I was interested in a Conformation Style puppy; I would study every video from this show and start eliminating the weak dogs from consideration. I think the person who posted these videos did us a big favor. I like my working line dogs and I am getting tired of people telling me that my high drive, focused, strong and hard temperment dogs "must be malinois because Shepherds don't work like this." My response is "This is how Shepehrds should work."

The petition is still open for review and signing.

You are right StoneHaus, the petition is still up and will remain up. Seems there are still some folks who think that it doesn't matter. We know there are folks who hope the rules continue to be forgotten, like previously.
We are still getting names added, but we can use more.
I am still a bit surprised that there are some names that are missing. One would think by the absence of those names, that those people think what has been allowed previously is acceptable.
Come on folks! put your name to the petition and say that following the rules are IMPORTANT!

To me, those missing signatures speak volumes. I am specifically thinking of a few on this board who previously never missed an opportunity to tout the importance of following the SV rules, never cheating and always titling prior to breeding. Ironically, since the inception of this petition, they have been MIA from any commentary on this thread or any thread discussing the quality of the bitework at the SS nor have they been here defending to the death their adhering to the SV rules and guidelines. I understand they have moved their discussing this topic as well as advertising one of the bogus biters as the greatest thing to hit the US since sliced bread to another board where they are afforded a higher level of protection from abuse than they would be gifted here.
Above all else, do not ever offend the big players.

Blitzen,
Yes, you are right, some folks who are very vocal about "Correctness" are absent from this thread, and a few others. I would like to think, that they are taking this opportunity to train their dogs. Especially now that the membership, and others will be looking more closely at the QUALITY of the bite work.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone had a discussion with their regional breed warden? If you have, have you heard anything to make you think the judging standard for the sieger show in 2009 will change? will the judging be the same as in the past? are they making new guidelines? I have been hoping that we would hear something from the BAC in regard to all of this.
Anyone with any insight that they care to share with the membership?

Otherwise, you may receive a "warning" PM from admin or have to join the crowd in "mod queue"--
Yes, Dee, I have discussed the situation with two RD's--in confidence, of course. They are working on changes. The gist of our discussions is that (1) USA may not be able to sustain the loss of entries/income and (2) there will be no significant changes until the SV itself and its "good-old-boy" club of judges is motivated to change and accept responsibility.
