Does anyone have an opinion about covy-tucker hills? I am researching for a friend whose beloved gsd recently died and he is looking to get a new gsd puppy(not for show only as a companion)..any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Giebel, we have 2 in our club and unfortunately both dogs show heightened sensitivity to strange surroundings. The male usually immediately reflects this with diarhea. He is a very bitchy male and requires a special diet. The female is much more stately but appears to be ravaged with continual ear infections. The dogs are restless when in a new environment, are continually "prancing" with their forefront, seeking reassurance from their owners. Depending on taste however. If your friends are looking for a nice pet quality pup, you might suggest their first looking into good health and temperament. JMO. Good hips, longevity, seeing the parent animals and how the puppy is raised from the whelping box to 8 weeks. That would be a good start for a pet and there are lots of breeders on this board looking for good homes for their pet quality pups. Sunny

I think you'll find that most here wouldn't buy a puppy from this breeder or any other advertising similar lines. I'm assuming you're new to this so bear with me... For several decades now, there has been a major disparity between imported and American bloodlines; so much so, in fact, that most of us don't even consider them to be the same breed anymore. For health and stability of temperament, I would recommend your friend look for a dog from imported lines.

giebel, they have been around for years and years, were at a time very big into show dogs,I have nothing bad to say about them but based on the other two comments above and respecting both, that would be enough to get me to look a little bit more.Where are you located?

Oh, by the way, it was "Covy-Tucker Hills Manhattan" that was the first and only GSD to win Madison Square Garden. He was a beautiful dog. And in the USA he brought the GSD back on the scene. I don't know when this was? I believe, Blitzen, if I am correct, it is only Dallas that has come close to Manhattan. And Dallas, if you see him is very "German" looking. Anyone have his pedigree? I have been trying for at least over 2 years to get more pedigree information on this dog. Jimmy Moses was the handler of Manhattan and Dallas. Keeps us hoping. Sunny

Hi Giebel I have a nice older pup that I would consider placing in a good pet home. Contact me at germanshepherds@gmx.de. I am currently at the West Coast as well.

Hi Charlie, Well? Put in good word for you and Blitz to the wild one under News For Dog Owners. Thank me later!
