This is now on You Tube in 6 parts and a big topic of discussion on breed boards. I wonder what it cost the AR extremists in the UK to produce this.

I believe Funky was referring to a comment I made in another thread when she said that "someone" said there are GSDs with muzzles so short that they can't keep their tongues inside their mouths when closed. What I said was - if the current trend to shorten muzzles continues in this breed that WILL be the result.  Some exhibit that now - haven't any of you ever seen a photo of a GSD with a tongue that hangs to its sternum when it pants? Most times the owner is bragging about what a long tongue their dog has. No way is a dog with a tongue that long going to be able to shut its mouth without the tip sticking out between the incisors. Funky also misquoted me when she said that "someone" said GSD's sound like frieght trains when they gait around the ring. Again, I said should the current trnd to shorten snd bulk up muzzles continue there will be no patent airway and that will result in dogs that cannot breath correctly. All you need to do is think about it.  Pugs and Bulldogs were not brachocephalic breeds until breeders decided they wanted to see a shorter, heavier muzzle. Funky failed to say that I said if the muzzle gets too short there will not be enough room in the jaw for full dentition and there will be more and more dogs with missing teeth beginning with the premolars. Also, wry bites will become more common as will over and undershot bites.

No Blitzen i am referring to this thread not another thread, and nowhere in your post did you say"if the trend continues. Now i do not know if the american dogs have the problems you stated, but from my experience no such problems are found in the gsd in the uk.But if you have names of such uk dogs, please do share, and i would love to see these dogs you claim resemble "bernese mountain dogs. Ithink you should maybe research gsds in this country a lot more before giving such ludicrous statements!!!!!!.liz

funky munky - I hate to admit this but I was contacted by a friend who works for a vet.  She wanted to check with me re a bad hip score on a GSD male.  He was 66cms at the shoulder and weighed in at over 50kg as a 1 year old  Apparently he was the same size as the others in his litter.  Unfortunately I never managed to see the pedigree, but it was very worrying.  Sadly he was euthanised due to not being able to deal with his malformed hips.

AR extremists - animal rights extremist like PETA.

Funky, have you ever really looked at some of the photos of the dogs posted here? Not necessarily those from the UK, everywhere? Do you honestly not see what is happening with heads, too much stop giving the dog a round eye, short heavy muzzles, roachy backlines, short legs, over angulated rears, long weak pasterns and flat feet? Do you really think that all hock walkers are Am lines dogs?  You must think I'm nuts if you think I'm going to put myself on the chopping block by listing links to photos of GSD that look like Bernese crosses. I can't imagine that you haven't already noticed them yourself.

EXCELLENT

Now, is it just me, or did anyone else notice that the Chief Vet from the RSPCA also "stars" in a Sky TV programme! Can't remember the name of it, but it's something to do with cars. My husband watches it so I will check with him. I wonder if he is also a car mechanic!!!

He was also in some other pet progamme a few years back  Bit of a celebrity it seems!!!!

If I remember rightly he's been on TV since the early 90's.  He did that "a car is born" thingy plus many other non animal things.
