why do I come back to read the quotes of a crazy woman.  She doesn't know jack.  Many schutzhund dogs will kill children if they grab them, run away, hide the kids....PPPPFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTT.  Talk about blowing ass gas out your mouth, this woman should bottle that crap and sell it, she's obviously full of it.

So you're saying someone who started titling Schutzhund dogs at the age of 16 doesn't know what she's talking about?

Riiiiight!

Methinks you're the one that's full of it, Z-dog!

Do me a favour: try grabbing someone else's Schutzhund dog when it's engaging the helper. Give me a call from the E.R. once you've tried this a couple of time with the really serious, hard-assed dogs you schutzhund people are so fond of!

Intimidation factor?  why not get a rott or Dobie?

as far as needing 500 animals to create a breed with genetic diversity, the Eurasier, a fairly new breed from chows and spitz (been around for like 20-30 years?), didn't need 500 to get its breed type and breed true.

Why not get a Rottie? LOL! Rex, Tina's childhood dog, was "bigger than the male Rottweiler that lived up the road."

Listen, oversized GSD's are nothing new. They have always been around, even if they don't meet the official standard. Some people just prefer them that way. Maybe it's because they're easier to train than Rotties or Dobes? (Don't jump all over me for saying that...I've zero experience with those two breeds. I'm just going by their ranking in the book, The Intelligence of Dogs.)

my rotts were far easier to handle than any gsd I have owned.  I would just have to raise my voice or give them 1 word and they would comply.  I had dogs out of Santos SweigerWappen sp?, Ives Eulingspeigel, Rodsen, Bruin Hungerbuhl ect.  not sure about the spelling as it has been years since I had one and looked at the pedigree's.

Yes oversized gsd have been around for a long time.  So why didn't she just choose healthy breeding stock instead of introducing malamute and wolf blood? to make a sounder, healtheir breed? so far the shilohs aren't healthier than gsd.  so she has not achieved her goal.

the US Govt did a experiment, breeding gsd and wolves to create the ultimate working dog.  they failed.  you can find the breed as a North American Tundra Shepherd. the dogs were too flighty and timid.

I live in the south, and unfortunately the BIG thing out here is wolf hybrids. everyone wants one.  I think that is the only thing that draws people to the shiloh, a big wolfy looking dog.  and that is why she continues to breed them, there's a market for a dog that looks like this.

No,  zdog   is not saying someone who SAYS she started titling Schutzhund dogs at the age of 16 doesn't know what she's talking about.  He is saying someone who says  'many schutzhund dogs will kill children if they grab them' is crazy.  Frankly I don't know if she is crazy but she is full of shit.  Saying schutzhund dogs are killers of children is a lie and nothing but a sales tool for her.   Obviously you have a lot to learn about schuthund if you can read this kind of irresponsible crap she prints and then try to somehow defend the indefensible.  She has no credibility.

That's exactly what I was saying, but I'll repeat just for fun.

For someone that SAYS they've titled dogs in schutzhund at age 16, she sure shows her total lack of knowledge about what types of dogs are in schutzhund.  If she's that full of shit about something she's supposedly known since age 16, I can't imagine how little she knows about the other things she claims to be an "expert" at.

Celes,

I just looked at the sites from that ring for oversized GSDs. What I have seen is a general weak physic. The structure of an oversized GSD has to be very correct to support the extra size and make a good picture for the eye. Even tho it is claimed that they are OFAd and elbows clear, this does not make up for a weak back, weak pastures and weakness in angulation. (cant even call it bad angulation, neither over or under angulated as this seems to be more related to making up for the back and trouble finding balance)

A Shiloh is not a dog I would choose but at least they are not calling it a German Shepherd, so it does not bother me. Better for us if a Shepherd-Looking dog is targeted for the "pet" market who wants a big fluffy long coated dog and we can keep our GSDs as the working dogs they are supposed to be.

I lost my judgemental attitude about them when a lady on our search team faithfully trained her Shiloh [certainly a more mellow working dog but a steady worker with good work ethic] and he found a boy scout who had been missing in the woods for several days last summer, the subject of a massive search.

I still don't think I would go out and buy one - I think she just happened to have a good specimen, and was a dedicated trainer, but I would take each dog as an individual; there are certainly some clunkers with pure GSD blood in them too.

Nancy; that is a very good point and  i appreciate the fact that she is not calling them gsds.
