In my opinion, no better than all the "oodle-poo"s and all the other hybrid/designer garbage. You want to pay 4 figures for a mixed breed dog/crappy bred dog, adopt one for $75 and donate the rest to a good cause.

The people who bred the 2 breeds wanted to re-create the german shepherd of old world germany, which means straight backs and longer hair, yes in your opinion they tried and failed terribly but i believe these breeds will not replace the german shepherd but become equal to them once they trim the edges and shape the standard to the correct form then i believe it will be a wonderful breed.

Okay, I apologize for the smoking comment. I just found out you're only 13 1/2 years old!

I certainly don't want to encourage under-age smokers!    (Or smokers of any kind...)

Yes, you're correct, the breed founder Tina Barber wanted to try to re-create the old-fashioned shepherds she remembered from Germany. Both her parents and grand-parents were breeders. I have met a number of these dogs, and like them very much. They are big, gentle and very intelligent. Many have been used in tracking, SAR and therapy work. I also know several who are medical service dogs, and have saved their owner's lives, just as Shep saved Lisa's life when she was an infant.

Yeah haven't u realised that they aren't placed in agression trials because breeders and pages say that she bred them with so many mild tempered dogs that the agressive streak kept the in gsd's isn't there anymore, there is no natural prey drive or attack drive, its ok, most people tend to misunderstand my being here because i'm so young.

Hi everyone,

I've just started looking into the Shiloh Shepherd breed, mainly because I wanted a dog that looked like a GSD, (except without the ridiculous sloping hips), but I didn't want the iffy temperament that it came with. And so, in my search, I came across the Shiloh, and of course, this whole political mess followed suit.

I've decided that while I don't want to deal with Tina Barber, I'm still interested in the Shiloh itself. I want a softer temperament, one that will play and reasonably protect, but not a high energy work dog. I don't care so much about the fact that there's a Malamute in the mix somewhere. I came to this decision after reading about the expericences of those who bought pups as pets from with Barber - the majority didn't seem to be too favorable. I used these to base my decision because I wanted opinions that didn't come from the breeder herself, or those that liked the working GSD type, because I felt both groups would be biased.

However, all I've been hearing about is this controversy with Barber. So, I've been wondering: What about the rest of the ISSR breeders out there? Like Dayspring Shilohs for instance? Has anyone here bought/dealt with any of the other ISSR breeders? And what about the "sliver" groups? Does anyone here have any experiences with them? I came across the ISSDC recently, does anyone know anything about them?

I don't need to know the breeder's opinion about these "sliver" groups, I already know that she thinks they're all traitorous crooks that breed monstrous mutts (which is ironic, since the very dogs she breeds herself are mutts, but that's besides the point). What I want to know is the kind of dog and experience that an unbiased, third-party pet-seeker had with these "slivers". Are they better than the original breeder's ISSR?

Or, are there any regular GSDs out there with a good, sound temperament, without the energy needed to excavate my yard, and without that sloping back? (I really don't like that appearance, it looks like they're deformed).  Preferably plush coat?

This thread seemed to be the most recently updated one, hopefully someone out there will see this post.

If anyone knows anything at all that could answer my questions, please please post a reply! Thanks in advance!

I hate to break it to you, but they're all crooks- they are making money off of mixed breed dogs and/or dogs that fall grossly outside the standard. I can't believe anyone would pay money fo rone.

I personally am really interested in the new cross bred dog that is gaining popularity.  It is a cross between a Shitz Zu and a Bull Terrier.

It's called a Bull Shitz.

yeah, I know.  Old Joke.
