did anyone of you ever see, what this guy is charging for his dogs ? and it seems people pay that !!! www.protectiondogs.com

by Saoa on 14 December 2004 - 04:12

Those prices are pretty customary for FULLY TRAINED 100% RELIABLE personal protection DOGS. Besides, it's none of our business what people want to pay for those dogs. No need to stirr up any trouble over this...

Maybe not, Gina, but at least this provides an opportunity to point out to people how important it might be to check their spelling...there might be a significant difference between www.protectiondogs.com and www.protectiondog.com.

You really do like to stir up trouble dont you Dyllan. I wonder who you really are and what your agenda is on this messageboard. I have a feeling you might be selling protection dogs and are just seeking to discredit your competition. (as you did in an earlier topic about EURO K-9 connection, who are selling protection dogs)

Why are you guys picking on Dyllan? He made a point. Theses prices are way off. I hope this guy has a contract saying that if the dog dies from a gunshot to the head that the buyer can get all of his money back.

by Charlie Ivory on 14 December 2004 - 08:12

God help me for this,I agree with Brittany,The prices are overkill,I don't care how well the dog is trained, your looking at dogs that the everyday person can buy for considerably less money, the fact that there may be a market for this is onething. If people want to spend that kind of money it is one thing, what people spend on a dog is their business not mine. The market this guy is after is one that most of us do not fall into and his ads are in magazines like Forbes and the like.I guess if you can afford a Bentley or your own private jet then $25,000 is in the ball park for a dog.......it does not mean it is not over priced. As for Dyllan,I don't know him and have had no problems with him on this board,he brought up a topic, simply askd if people have seen the prices,I have and I think they are insane.and I don't sell PP dogs.

I will just add from my experience... I bought a PPD four years ago for $2500.00. He has a "killer" of a pedigree and will "stand up" to what ever it takes to protect his home, family and himself. He is now a cert'd Police Dog. People say, "fight drive" is very rare, but I believe my boy has it. He's had huge trash cans thrown on him while biting the decoy, jumped thru a creak, been whipped, kicked, had a chair thrown on him while biting, worked on the body suit...end result...He kept fighting. Now, I know a bullet would be different, but darn, if I were shot, I'd stop and think..do I keep fighting. Anyway, NO dog is worth that kind of money and my male is the perfect example. By Dyllan's post, his hopes were probably to "catch" the inexperienced dog buyer before they sunk a crap load of money into one of their dogs when a dog like mine can be bought for a heck of a lot cheaper and accomplish the same results. But that is my 2cents. =)

"I hope this guy has a contract saying that if the dog dies from a gunshot to the head that the buyer can get all of his money back." Britanny that just seems unrealistic, would you expect Mercedes to give you back your money if you had a accident that totalled your car? Think about it... Yes, the prices are VERY high and one can debate the validity of these prices, but if the guy has a market for it and is really providing top notch PP dogs then what is wrong with that? This isnt a Buyer Beware situation unless the guy isnt providing the training to the dogs he says he is, the rest is up to the buyer to determine his budget. This does not mean this Seller is ripping off anyone. I replied to Dyllan's post in this instance because in the past he has had some innapropriate posts against an innocent PP trainer/seller.

Funkman is correct people like Brittany Spears and the rich and famous buy these dogs. They believe in the "You get what you pay for" saying. In some ways I believe this as well just not in this instance! We all may think anybody that pays this much for a dog is crazy but apparently some people do pay this much and that is there business not ours.

by Blitzen on 14 December 2004 - 17:12

Oh,come on, people. There's are a number of breeders on this board who would charge that much for a dog if they could get it. Gimme a break LOL. Look at the ridiculous prices some ask for an 8 week old puppy from a Va sire and dam. What about the asking price for a Va import even though the dog is nearing the end of it's reproductive life? Some are so expensive that it requires a conglomerate of people to pay the price. It's what the market will bear and if some celeb who earns millions a year wants to pay this guy that sort of money and he can provide the real deal, then more power to him. People with that kind of money aren't very likely to get cheated as they have the money to hire a dream team and the influence to prosecute the offender. It's only schleps like us common folk who get screwed by dog breeders; those who can afford to lose the money never do. Anyone who can afford 5 figures for a dog can afford to go after the breeder if they feel they've been cheated. They don't need an advocate to save them from themselves.
