Joyce, i remember the Eiko show vividly,as the crowd erupted into a crescendo of clapping when he got the ticket.  Avery, very popular decision.      By the way, i think you meant 1986 at Dam Park.

If i remember rightly it was Nilo who took the dog cc,and Willowdale Feigh the bitch cc in 96.Not that i have a good memory, but my husband does. In 86 i  still had " Alsations". My daughter used the stunning EIKO on one of her bitches, and what a super litter that was. liz

Hi, re the first two day 1984. Sunday, day two.  The euphoric feelings were still dancing round my head  as i made my way down the M6 on a gloriously sunny morning, i must have had my foot down, as i arrived fairly early ( i'm a poet and i dont know it ) . sorry, thats the little boy in me.  Anyway i  was having a breakfast in the Little Chef close to the venue, when i could feel people staring at me, at that time i had a mop of dark hair ,full beard, and was three stone lighter than i am now, and was constantly being mistaken  for Eric Clapton, (  i know it's hard to believe.     Now it's Eric Morcambe. ) Anyway on with the tale, it transpired these were dog people pointing out to each other the owner of the previous days winner of the junior bitch class, and when one of them approached me ,asking was the the bitch for sale,  you could have knocked me over. I politely declined their offer and made my way to the show feeling quite good about myself.

The Progeny group was won Cito v Konigsbruch , very easily in fact, by virtue of the number, and the very typical sons and daughters. Ogus by contrast had only a few, and mainly puppies at that . Back to the Yearling Dog . Forty seven dogs were entered for Bo to assess, the Cito son Alshvar Shultz held off his half brother  Moonwinds Golden Harrier, with another Cito son Rampishan Tumack in third.   Over to the bitches, there were sixty three in the yearling, the winner was the all black Star of Cinsyl, who, had she been Black and Gold would have had many CCs to her credit.  She was followed by another beautiful bitch Janshar Island Mist, third was Jeffrolls Chicaboo of Conadrew. ( was that the start of the Conadrew dynasty ) The Limit dog had fifty nine dogs presented the winner was Tuffly's Sparky an Aryvom Reusch son, who gave Rocky a good fight in the challenge. The second and third were Allankee Zorro and Alsahurst Raconteur.  The limit bitch class was contested by sixty five females, The beautiful Langfaulds Fancy worked her socks off to stay in front of two equally beautiful bitches in Muscavas Candy, and Gavington Arikara. The open dog was tremendous in both number (32) and quality ,there were ten champions presented as well as numerous Imports including the winner Groll vom Restrauch, followed by Cito, and Fanto of Frabern at Karanberg . And now to open bitch, probably the most dramatic and exciting class i have ever seen, thirty two females including eight champions ran, walked, and trotted for over an hour in the hot afternoon sun Rosehurst Miss Piggy led the fabulous Bedwins Fantasia  the rest didnt seem to matter to Leysen on and on ,trot, walk ,run, away together, still no change, he gives them their final instruction  walk one lap then gait for two.  The crowd are screaming for Fantasia, Leysen, sensing this was the crowds favourite ,moved her to the front, the crowd erupted, thats how they finished, the whole class absolutely shattered.  In my piece for the Meet the Breeder in Our Dogs a couple of years ago, i was asked which Female had particularly struck me during my time in dogs, my answer was Bedwins Fantasia, to me she remains the best female i have ever seen.  Back to the show, the Bitch challenge commenced less than twenty minutes after the open class, Malcolm told me to look for another handler as he was handling the CC winner:  It was probably a logical decision given she had just won a fabulous class.  I looked around frantically and was lucky to find Andrew Winfrow, who to this day i am eternally grateful. The bitches were called into the ring in numerical order, and told to walk for two laps, and then gait for  two, now whether Leyson had made up his mind from the previous day is only supposition, but half way round the second l

PAULIE,THANK GOD I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO LEAVE IT LIKE THAT,I WAS GETTING RIGHT INTO IT!!!!!!  LIZ

But half way round the second lap Leysen motioned to Andrew to go the front, and then stopped the challenge, it was nonsense, dont get me wrong Franci was a super bitch but she was nowhere near Fantasia. I often look at the video ( Errol Francis ) and it looks like Fantasia's movement is speeded up. I felt very sorry for my very good friends Ron and Irene. So thats it except to tell you that the veteran class of thirty six contained ten champions

Paulie, great read, you should write a wee book with all your memories and get others to share it would make a great read. Joyce, have not been involved in the show scene for some time, but if what i see and read about todays shows is so, you are correct in what you say.liz

Joyce

The alternative to persistance is failure . But nobody actually fails, they just give up. Why should we?  ( is that too deep for a Sunday afternoon)

Regards Paul
