I agree, Julie.  Wonderful win, wonderful night.

I so wish his mother and grandparents could have seen this!

And he just said they're getting the kids a puppy!  (LOL)

McCain's concession speech was beautiful, touching, graceful, and classy.  I was watching the BET network and they said the same, and said that THAT was the McCain of old, who we hadn't seen in a long time, and if THAT McCain had been campaigning, things might have been different tonight.  Very true.

 O chansons foregoing

You were a seven days' wonder.
When you came out in the magazines
You created considerable stir in Chicago,
And now you are stale and worn out,
You're a very depleted fashion,
A hoop-skirt, a calash,
An homely, transient antiquity.
Only emotion remains.
Your emotions?
Are those of a maitre-de-cafe.

                              Ezra Pound

Not "just" YES WE CAN, BUT YES WE DID!!!! Truly, an historic night!! I wish my grandmother had lived to see this. I wish even more that President Obama's grandmother had lived to see it. The Civil Rights Act (first) was passed in what, 1964? 44 years later, a black man is overwhelmingly elected to the presidency of the United States. I remember seeing the demonstrations on a black & white TV as a small child, and seeing people beaten and attacked by dogs because they wanted to vote. I remember my grandmother going down South to join in the effort, so things would be better for me. If only she could have seen this!!! I started getting teary-eyed at 8 this morning and it keeps on happening. We all became a part of history today. McCain's concession speech was excellent and showed the character of the man who ran under that name before. I hope he does not let Palin near a microphone to ruin the effect.

Tess, it could be either Bush or McCain, who ran a pi$$ poor campaign against one of the most accomplished campaigners this country has ever seen.
