This has nothing to do with race because I would have voted for Collin Powell in a heart beat and felt very good about it.  The first hundred days will be the start of the rape of our moral code and look for a new attack on the 2nd amendement shortly after Jan 20th, Legislating judges from the bench,a tax increase to end it all,the slowy grinding down of the readiness of our military, the funding cuts to our information collecting services, a great day...a great day...

Steve1, Are you married? LOL LOL.  Would you like a middle aged dependant?  I'd like to live there too... it sounds perfect!  My French is a little rusty and I don't know any Flemmish... but I'll learn!

No wonder you moved.

<<Tess, it could be either Bush or McCain, who ran a pi$$ poor campaign against one of the most accomplished campaigners this country has ever seen.>>

I know, but really, it's Bush, because the McCain of the concession speech was indeed the McCain of old, a classy, intelligent guy, And his supporters are angry with him because as negative as his campaign was, they wanted it even more vicious and devisive, and near the end, he wouldn't go the extra lengths his supporters wanted, because he knew it was disgusting.  Bush/Cheney/Rove et al crawl in the gutter with no problem - they LIKE that stuff.  Palin is the same mud-crawler.  McCain is different.  Honestly, he seemed so tired last night, I almost think he was grateful that he didn't win.  I'm sad because we should've had President McCain the past 8 years, but we didn't.

And how different was Obama's speech than Bush's?!  Wanting unity, saying that I will listen to what all of you have to say, those who didn't vote for me and those who did not - and that was directly opposite to the reaction of the winner in the past 2 elections, who gloated about their "mandate" to do whatever they wanted even though the election was painfully close.

1-20-09: The End of an ERROR!!

by Teri on 05 November 2008 - 12:11

Obama is NOT a black man, he is half white & half black.  Why does it always turn to a black and white issue??????  Be careful what you ask for you might just get it!  Change is sometime good and sometimes bad.  Words mean nothing if they are not followed up with action.  Most politicians say what they think will get them votes but don't follow up on even half their promisses.  With the economy the way it is everything is very scarry!!!!  I am very concerned for the welfare of the USA.

Bob McKown, what racist drivel.  You're the reason Obama won.  People are sick and tired of the hate such as yours, the hate and division that Bush/Cheney/Rove actively encouraged and fed these past years.

Have you ever heard Obama speak? or his wife? or his children?  or the people who support him?  They are intelligent and articulate, but you try to paint them as talking like "laudy, laudy we don't gots to works now"?

Obama has repeatedly stressed personal responsibility and hard work.  Repeatedly.  He's the mixed-race child of a single mother, who after her death was raised by his grandmother.  And with hard work and personal responsibility he MADE it.  His wife lived with her family in a one-bedroom apt., where she & her brother had to sleep in the living room up until they left for college.  But they worked hard and they MADE it.  (Her brother Craig Robinson is now the coach of the Oregon State basketball team).

"Rape of our moral code"?  So the family man, married to one woman (unlike McCain), no children out of wedlock (unlike Palin), stressing work and personal responsibility, will do this?

We shall see what happens.  But this is the brightest day in this country for a long time, and obviously the majority of Americans agree with me.

You're not fooling anyone with your "it's not about race" statement, while you write as you do.

McCain's concession speech was excellent. It was gracious, generous and showed class.

This was the McCain that many of us knew and admired unlike what we saw during the campaign. I don't know if he could have won if he had been himself all along during the campaign but I think it would have been closer.

 And now it starts,

Tess or who ever you are Don,t we live in a free society where we all are allowed our opinion???? at lest i,m not a gutlass cow whom posts under fictisious names I don,t bend with the wind I stand on my belief and I didnt  set in the congregation of a minister who,s main battle cry was "God dam the USA" and" Whitey" for 20 years and was wed by the same man and raised my children in his influence untill it was not POLITICALLY correct not to do so to gain a office!!!! My beliefs are my beliefs... We just elected a big?

by beetree on 05 November 2008 - 12:11

This was one hell of a steep uphill battle all the way. Record registrations, with 95% blacks voting Obama, the aniti-Bush effect, and mostly the economy, (the whole bailout mess,) it just would have to have been a miracle to change this outcome.
