he is an outstanding baby ok he isstacked streched but with proper stacking you would see that he is indeed an overall outstanding pup with ex shoulder/uperarm placement maybe a bit over angulated behind  and a super top line and if you have not seen this puppy in movement how on earth can you say he is cow hocked from a pic of him standing ????

Have a look at his sister Galaxy, she is for sale in Turkey. It was a very good litter, Grisu was not the best in the litter, they all carry the same quality from very good producing lines.

pretty sad that people think the HYENA look is correct. aristianM- put up 2 photo's the one on the right to the general public CORRECT. how is it everytime i go to a conformation show with my working line (who by the way has gorgeous conformation) people CONSTANTLY ask me what is wrong with "those" dogs. meaning there rears. again JMO i will still with the working lines. the german show dogs are quickly getting the American look to me. sorry

Gorgeous looking puppy, only one fault, he's not mine!!!!!! PRESTON, the puppy you linked to is totally stunning, just a pity about being over stretched, certainly doesn't take away the obvious quality of the puppy. liz

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the dog is very nice. How do so many of you so-called GSD fanciers honestly NOT understand that a dog can be manipulated to look overangulated not recognize it when you see it? I saw immediately the pup is overly strectched in the rear. A slight to moderate cowhock is not at all uncommon in a young dog and they OFTEN outgrow it. In fact, I think he appears that way more so because of his stack.

Also, where is the roach? A roach is defined as an upward curvature of the spine past the wither. I don't see that. I see a bit of hair past the wither puffed up a touch from the collar, but that's about it.

TBH Preston, I like this guy a bit better than the one you posted, I like his front better, but it so hard to judge puppies, especially at different ages.  Thank you, though, for yet again being the voice of educated reason.

And I gotta ask- who really has the time and inclination to post pictures of other people's dog with a intenetion of ripping them apart and starting a an online argument? I can think of many, many dogs I think are atrocious (I'm sure most of us can) and yet, somehow, I come up with better things to do with my time.  There is nothing contructive about discussions like this.

i have a question about the hocks on both grisu and zoran (the dog preston posted a link to) to me it looks like they are almost walking on them; is that typical? or is it a tolerated weakness?

the picts of the other dogs mentioned in this thread don't appear to have hocks as low as these 2 dogs.  i'm just beginning to 'see' more detail conformation and learn what contributes to structurally sound conformation hence the question:)

Thanks aristianM

Most people that call and inquire about a pup ask me if the have that,....

slant to them, or if they are overangulated, they are mostly looking for that almost
straight backed GSD that they had from their childhood years back, I've noticed a
drastic change from when I grew up in the "70"s

There seems now different "styles" of GSD's, unusual structures,to much curving in the back,
some with no rear ends at all, shouldn't show lines & working lines look to the standard?
I do wonder how some judges and breeders have veered off track and away from the
true standard of the GSD that has an illustrated picture from every angle to go by.

I met a lady that was stewarding at an akc obedience dog show, and she had a GSD she
purchased from a top conformation winner, and she told me his hind end is so low that
when people see her dog she has to explain that it's an American showline

So many of the folks who post on this board about these matters don't have a clue on correct conformation.  They think long backs and lack of bone, no layback, no posturnum, short steep croups, and poor pigment is great.   They do not even know what a good puppy should look like through its stages of normal development, or as KCzaja pointed out how stacking the dog changes its appearance.

For those who want to know and aren't afraid of knowledge, obtain Wynthea Strickland's classic book on the GSD and study her diagrams.  You won't be able nowadays to get this information at any Sch club or local GSD club in the USA, that is for sure.  Memorize the standard and use a lot of tracing paper to figure this out.  Learn from folks that know the truth.

KCzaja, your post is soooooo correct, who does have the time......? I will NEVER understand someone who needs to pick a picture, especially a puppy with lots of growing and changing to do, and rip it to shreads. And they have proved what? NOTHING!!!!!  This sort of thread has been done to death, give it a rest!!!!  liz

KCzaja you couldn't be any more wrong than you are with what you thought my intentions were.......my point was not to start an argument.....my point was I know nothing about showlines, and asked real questions.....serious questions in order to get answers to find out why they are like this......and also pointing out.....I said I've seen other dogs much worse than this....to me it just looks like some these dogs are in pain. All I wanted to know was some advice on it because I'm only use to working lines.... so you can think of better things to do with your time? Well thats nice and all, but once again....I was asking for advice because I know nothing about show lines......so I do think I can gain something out of a conversation like this.....I wasn't just posting a picture to insult a dog....
